I've spent around $2k on gear in 2 years of my own money, and like another $300 if you include paintball related gifts from my family. Add to that amount most likely a very large sum from field fees, paint, tourney entries, etc.

WELL, including paint the figures are wayy different... I've probably spent around 700 dollars including paint

im my um... 1.576 years of playing

In my my year and a half of playing paintball Ive probally spent like....... close to 800-1000 bux on gear and then all the paint/field/air fees would boost her up to something like 1500 bux I guess. but the hardest thing is tring to play paintball every week end and build a rock crawler out of my 82 toyota . AAAnnndddd fix all the carnage oh well its just money. LOL

This is all within 5 years of playing btw and doesnt even look at paint costs... and my friends wonder why I never bought a car..
