Of course if you just play woods ball it seems kind of silly to go get a Mag.
Another thing. About that. Woods ball builds skill baby. Ever been stuck behind a twig while under fire? It may be a different environment than speedball, but that doesn't mean it's just for noobs. There are plenty of reasons for a mag in a forest. What I play in the woods gets way to intense sometimes, with people always coming from behind.

The choice really depends upon what type of player you are, do you play only during the summer time or do you play year round? Do you play once every 3-6 months or do you play 2-3 times a month?

CO2 is great for warm weather, it performs poorly in cold weather. Compressed air performs just as well in warm weather as it does cold, it is unaffect by the outside temperature. If you're going to play year round, you need to seriously consider moving to HPA. If you only play a few games a year in the warmer weather, CO2 is more then sufficient. If you play a few times a month, you will save money in the long run going to HPA.

You play only a few times a year, the Tippmann is more then sufficient. You play a few times a month, seriously consider moving up to a Mag, easier to maintain/clean, alot better performance.

Depends what part of the country you're in. I live in florida, where CO2 would be fine. I use N2 only because its cheaper in the long run.
If ya live up north, go with N2 straight away if you play year around.
I'd say get a mag. They break down less than Spyders. Spyders are ok guns for the money, but if you insist on Spyders, go Piranha.

The best way to go is talon, spyder/tippy, mag, then the big daddy.
Would the Big Daddy be an X-Mag? I couldnt resist it hehe

Sinking money into a Tippmann is unwise. You will never be able to get much back out of it if you want to sell later. Which you will. Go ahead and buy a good gun now and be done with it. I suggest you pick up a used RT or RT Pro. You wont have to upgrade anything except mabe the barrel. You can find one for 400-450 depending on what it comes with. A friend of mine just bought a used RT Pro with a SP teardrop barrel and drop for $380.

Go with the mag. It is a way better gun. Like the guy above me said, sinking money into a tippy is unwize. With everything you want to buy to upgrade your tippy, your could probably easily afford a mag and HPA. Look on ebay because there are some awsome deals out there on guns that are alredy customized and come with hpa. Getting all of that I think would push the total cost of your gun to almost 500 for a Begginer gun when a TKO mag is only like 300.

Definitely get the mag. I started off similarly to you, with a bone stock spyder shutter, then I got a cocker. Sold the cocker, went back to the shutter, and upgraded it to the max. Big mistake! I then got my hands on a minimag, and now I have an e-mag. I might even have a matrix, soon enough. Seriously though, scout the classified forums on AO, you'll often find real good deals on used mags.

So I think a used mag would be your best bet. They're durable as all heck, easy to maintain, and perform really well. I guarantee you could find a classic mag with an intelliframe and a level 10 for cheap, like $300 maybe. Don't even bother spending the extra money for a brand new mag, since they really aren't that much better performance-wise.

That is exactly what I did (except w/out the talon). Very well said :)

EDIT - Oh yeah, I got a cocker before I got the mag

Go with the mag, you won't be sorry.

I would have to agree with B.C. on this one. Your question is kind of flat. If you're serious then you should start to invest in a better gun. But I mean if you're just a couple times a year player then it's not really worth it. That's kind of like asking if you should buy an Angel, and all you do is shoot trees from your bathroom window. But if you're serious, then I would strongly suggest a mag and keep moving up.

Good advice! Don't sink money into the Tippmann. It is a good gun. There is nothing wrong with it but to start upgrading it to an ebolt is not wise. RT Pro is a good gun as well as Emags (you can find both for good prices). Count on upgrading to HPA and consider how you are going to fill your tank (if your local field does not have HPA fills).
