    Paintball Markers To Be Banned In Illinois!!!!!!!

    bill SB 1195 is going through the senate next week, it bans all guns(including air guns) that shoot anything over .50 caliber! this cant go through!!! we must stop it!!! everybody start emailing and writing any of the illinois senate members!!! we must stop this!

    "The bill states that all weapons over 50-caliber would be banned. Exemptions later in the bill make it appear that semi-automatic shotguns with a fixed magazine holding less than five shells or pump, bolt or lever action guns wouldn't be affected."

          Actually there's a law that prohibits the banning of airsoft and paintball markers in the U.S. Too bad I don't have a link to it but maybe somone on here does.

              Having talked to many people about this a couple weeks ago, I do not think that Paintball guns are included in this. But, how ever, please do not let this bill pass.

              To read the entire bill check out http://www.legis.state.il.us/legisla...SB&DocNum=1195

                  (x) any firearm having a caliber of 50 or greater;

                  Note that it specifies 'firearm' which a PB gun is not.

                    Depends on the states classification of what a firearm is. In NJ paintball guns used to be classified as firearms, as airguns are firearms here. Not that that is relevant to this case, just pointing it out.

                        I think there is mention somewhere that indicates the rating for a real gun vs a paintball marker or other types of guns.

                        The rating is based on muzzle velocity. Basically, since the paintball marker is only rated at 300fps it doesn't qualify as a gun.
                        Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

                          The funny thing is, that almost no rifles are over .50 except for black powder guns. Still, no gun control laws are good, and eventually, the left probably wants to ban paintball gun as well. That is probably so...

                            One .50 caliber rifle that does exist is the Barrett .50 caliber rifle. I have seen it and felt the shockwave that it gives out. In Califoria, it is illegal to buy or sell any high powered rifles as of 2000. The only .50 calibers that can be sold here are the single shot types. One member of my friends AR-15 gun club owns one and lets anyone shoot it for a small fee per round. I'm hoping that he will be at their next meet. Here's a pic of it.

                              I didn't bother to read the bill but for the sake of argument it is possible that paintball markers will be banned and that crazy big gun pbzmag posted would be legal. Gotta love politicians.
