AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Does any one have pics or a manual of a 68 special? This one that came into the shop has some home made parts. I want to see what should and should not be their.
The 68 Special was just that but it was done by the factory.
You can even see where they joined the SMG back half to the new direct feed front half
It was an outstanding beast in it's day. Heavy and with a lot of kick, but reliable and I remember it being quite accurate.
I was going to guess a 68 Specially originally, but seeing the hack job on the linkage lead me to believe this one predates the 68 Special a bit. The other tipoff was the number on the side "A01", usually the serial numbers were longer then that, A usually demotes Alpha/Prototype.
Alot of the local German players I knew when stationed in Fulda, Germany in the late 80's/early 90's, liked the Tippmanns alot since their liquid CO2 diet meant much better performance in the cold weather where our PMI III's would suffer.
Whatever it is, keep the 68 special information coming
I may get one out of a trade I'm working on...
"I would like nothing more than to walk around
wearing a shirt with a giant arrow pointing
downwards, but I have this strange feeling
that most people would take it as some kind
of sexual suggestion rather than an attempt
to infer one's final destination."
The SMG 60 was a nice marker, it's weakness was it's high rate of fire and limited ammo supply (15 rounds). Also, the ball weight of the .60 cal paint would make it about useless for long range shots, pretty much anything over 30 meters was impossible. SMG gunners found themselves routinely outgunned by pumps, they're only hope was to get in close where the SMG 60 was the undisputed king.
They later introduced the SMG 68 version which fired a normal paintball, the stripper clips were subsequently larger and a pain to load, SMG gunners then found themselves out gunned by the gravity feed auto trigger ballers who carried more then 20 rounds of paint in their markers.
I had an SMG 60 with the velocity set at 500 fps for hunting rabits, Tippmann had steel slugs you could buy for varmit hunting that worked great.

WOW! I want to have a go with that
I also want a Model 85, and almost bought one until I found out how illegal it would be over here!!!
I remember I had a buddy that would sling a 68 Special over his shoulder and carried the SMG. Both had 20oz tanks.. yeah he was buffed, lol
I loved the snow they would shoot.. and they made a loud "clank!" everytime you shot it.
Remember how the SMg had a little camo bag that would hang on the side to catch those orange clips?
God.. first time I ever got shot was with one of those! 3 rounds in the *** on Thanksgiving Day. we had a huge game on some private land, about 120 people showed up.. that was the day Paintball took my heart
