I tried and ditched the remote. It's really a hindrance for speedball (But mostly OK for woodsball).

What I don't like about remotes:

    1. Harder to shoot offside (Hose gets in the way)
    2. Gun doesn't balance nearly as well (Even with stock)
    3. With 7 pods of paint, where do you expect me to put the bloody tank.
    4. Tank on the back is supremely uncomfortable.

That said, if you're an itty bitty lil thang, try it. If you are over 5'3 and 120lbs, run on-gun. Any screwin tank will work with a remote, and most systems can be setup that way too.

And of course, it looks silly. But i expect the reasons Pro's don't use remotes have to do with shooting offside and the problems inherent with sprinting with 5lbs of tank on your back (Much heavier than paint, and harder too)

It's easier to run with 5 lbs of tank in your hand?

yep. That 5lbs of tank behind my hand is balanced by the 5 lbs of gun in front of it. And it's not bouncing on my back.

            coming full circle

The main thing I didn't like about the remote was the regulator digging me in the back, so I padded my back a bit.

Then I realized I needed a stock for the gun, otherwise I had trouble aiming. The stock was OK, but made the setup just as big as with a tank... and now I was carrying a little more weight.

In the end, the tank was putting pressure on my lower back so I ending up going back the the on-gun setup.

Results will vary, but for me (5'8", 165lbs) the remote was not a great option.

Because all of the cool pro players use an on-gun system
Your darn right. Also I would prefer not to have to worry about remote catching on a bunker or getting caught under me when I do a Pete Rose sytle dive into a bunker. It would also add profile to my pack which is the last thing I need.

The reason I started using an Egg over a halo is the halo seemed very big. The pro players using it showed me that it actually worked now.

Since I get less shots off a fill with the 'mag to begin with (due to ~800psi input requirement) I'm thinking cheap and seriously considering going back.
800psi is not a requirment. I run my E off 650psi, and have no problems at all. The only reason to run it up that high is if you are looking of the reactiveness in your trigger. I use my E-Mag purely in E, because I don't care for the bounce.

I will be damned if I ever use one of those pieces of crap. I have went from a Revvy to a Halo, to the Ricochet, and that is where I will stay, because so far it has worked the best for me. I will probaly give the Halo TSA a shoot when it comes out. Other than that give me a Rico anyday.

Personally I like running my Emag with a 114 raptor rex on remote. I do use a gas through stock for a couple of reasons.
                  1. I like shouldering my gun
                  2. I needed something to hold my warp on
                  3. I needed something to hang my gun from (kinda shown in this picture http://www.automags.org/forums/attac...&postid=696303 )

Now that third one doesn't make a whole lot of sense until you hear how I ran my tank. I put my tank in an old Kamel pack and cinched it up high on my back. This solves most all of the complaints I've heard about wearing the tank. It keeps it high (allowing slides), it keeps it tight (no banging the back or digging into the back), and if you run the hose over your shoulder and clip it to the little straw holder it keeps he hose tucked well in.

                    my point exactly...
if there were more pros out there using remotes and "proving" they work...
                    (not that i need proof)
there'd definitely be more remotes out there on the whole

personally i could care less what the pros use
                    guess what
they use what their sponsors pay them to use
not that i blame them...free stuff...playing a tournament without having to pay for it 100% out of pocket...
