    Not Terrible

I purchased a 2002 shocker 4x4 new from a local dealer last year just after the new ones came out. Got it for $399. I is very quiet, it is very inefficient, but no more so than my Bushmaster. Capped at just under 12bps. Slow by today's newest standards, but I can't shoot a semi any faster than that, It will outshoot my WAS Revy. It is a large body, wide like an Angel, and tall like an impulse, but not heavy, I compared it to my Impulse after they were set up the same way and it's less than 2 oz. heavier on the shop scale. The finish and quality seems A+. It came with a two piece all american barrel too (Most guns at this shop didn't come with a barrel at all).

Okay, now the negative. At $399 I could have bought the base Impulse,BKO or several other mid level electros which shoots faster and more efficiently and offers tons of upgrades not available on the Shocker.

However the new Shocker looks to be different, time will tell.

hte old school shockers you can get up to 15bps if you set them up right

then you have the 'shocker part' from evil, which will increase the shot count with HPA ALOT... but stock, they already get a case out of a 20oz... yes, shockers LOVE CO2... even more than HPA

and the solenoids in an impulse/shocker are rated to 250 psi, cause stock imps don't have LPR's, and they run around 225 psi out of the box

only drawback is size and weight... and not really aesthetically pleasing either

but its FUNNY AS HELL when you get bunkered by a guy toting his shoebox (happened to me and we had a good laugh) all i see is a black box and jersey come around the corner

Yeah man oldschool shockers are great. Just make sure you get a fairly newer oldschool shocker. I constantly hear that older models have problems, so make sure you get at least a '99 or newer. And yes, its true, they love Co2. They eat it up like candy, no problems. I'd say they're great guns, just big and kinda slow (but that can be fixed).

(versus four five in a mag including the regulator..)

The gun runs the solinoids above their rated pressure. I've still never seen a solinoid that was rated for more than 120psi use. (unless we're talking no2 solinoids... which run at 900-1200... but four of those would be bigger than the shocker itself) And the shocker runs at 150-200 psi depending on velocity.

So a we stand it's a complex gun that's very inefficant. what could be good on the gun? Rate of fire? Well even with aftermarket boards people still can't get shockers shooting much more than 11bps.

have you noticed the shockers with powerfeeds? And the shockers with air assist? Despite being closed bolt they seem to have a big problem with blowback. the powerfeed was a SP fix for a problem they couldn't figure out how to fix. with a closed bolt gun, there should be NO blowback whatsoever.

well I should mention the quality of the aluminum used in the gun as well. most shockers have helicoils installed beacsue the aluminum used just won't hold threads. ti's also a bit tricky to annodize.

About the only thing going for shockers is owner loyalty, and noise. Shockers are quiet. But it appears that MOST guns that are really inefficant are pretty quiet.

if logic doesn't prevail, how about the bandwagon falicy. The smart parts teams don't use shockers. they use impulses. They have their own problems as well, but they are superior to shockers. though don't take this as my endorsement of impulses..... they have their own slew of problems ;-) (though the majority of those CAN be fixed... but by that time you may as well have paid for the angel, bm2k, or other ram driven hammer gun....)
Gashogs yes, but with 100 bucks it is easily fixed. And whats this nonsense about them not being able to shoot fast. Non visions can shoot incredibly fast with the correct dwell settings and my kick isn't noticeable when i am playing in the game and the tank is against my shoulder...They aren't reliable i will hand you that but i disagree with mot of your statments...strange uses strange shockers...

Evan you are stupid, look at the thread date.

Edit: Sneaky, the noids arent rated for more then 60 psi I believe, it says right on the noid 30-60 psi, smartparts fixxed this by putting in a stiffer spring. This is the main cause of fsdo in impulses. Some people have got the original springs that go in them and run lprs at 80 psi or so, and get awesome results.
