How could you possibly dive with the gun like that? Seems like it would waste time getting into position, not to mention you'd slam the gun down really hard while diving...

I hold my gun like that off the break, it creates more natural running momentum, and helps me run faster...

the position isnt for diving. its for sliding in. you shouldnt really dive in anyway it gives the oposition time to post up on you instead of you posting up on them.

The foregrip position is a show-off move, just because whipping your gun around into the shooting position looks fancy. It is the fastest way to get into the shooting position (barring holding the gun normally and keeping your finger on the trigger guard), though, but its also a very slow and difficult running position. If you want to run faster, you use a snatch-grip position. If you want to get into shooting position faster, you hold by the foregrip (either the way I illustrated or the show-off barrel-up way.)

If you're a runner, then you shouldn't be sliding directly into your primary. Its more effective to dive, assess the situation, then you should be able to wrap a low bunker like a laydown. Otherwise your head and upper body is above the bunker. That's also why you don't slide into a snake, you dive, being in the position to crawl, not to shoot.

If your network of guns is set up correctly behind you, you should have someone watching you not just on the way in, but while you're shooting or not. If you're just a runner, not shooting while moving, you should only have to be worried about making your primary at first, considering your assignment is probably a 50 bunker, in which case diving, while staying low, and making sure not to hit the bunker on the way in is a more effective way to get in. In addition, in some situations the other team's backs will have their line of sight obstructed by a bunker, so if you crawl, you're effectively invisible, and out of the way of their paint. Finally, by diving, you lessen the chance of hitting the bunker on the way in, making it harder for not only the other team's mids and backs to put paint on you, but if you have a mirror, they might not realize you're there.

Sliding has merit when you're moving up on a field from a mid back position, as you're in a shooting position quicker, that's why you see teams that are up on bodies having their mids slide into their secondary 50 bunkers after their killers are up on the other team's 40s or 35's. Essentially though, sliding presents a larger target area, and isnt an option on many laydown bunkers.

Or you could do a baseball slide or lean back while you knee slide and kick your legs out, putting you firmly on your butt and still capable of snap shooting effectively.

Superman dives, except when going into snakes, are almost always show-offs

thank you cky shane you know your stuff.

its also for when you get shot in the chest and feel like having the paint disappear.
