Under 18... paintball buying stories!

I am 16 and am at Choate-Rosemary Hall in Connecticut for a Summer Writing Workshop. Basically, they tell us to "write what we know." I know about buying paintballs underage. My teacher loves the idea. However, I need some meat to add to my story. I am asking you, the AO Community, to tell me of a time (or times) that you have tried to smuggle paintballs (not steal) from Walmart or Academy underage. For example...

When you put paintballs under the register at Walmart, a messege comes up on the green LCD display that states, "Is buyer 18+?" I usually quickly scan a package of gum so this messege is overridden with the price of the gum.

Anything remotely similiar to that.

errrr.....that must suck having to be 18 to buy paintballs!....sorry i have none, its leagel to buy paintballs when you're under 18 where i live.

I dont have to be 18.....i buy paint from my local store whenever i want, since i was liek 13 (then again, the guy sponsors my team). I have also gone into walmart and bout to crapeagle balls (which actaully shot good in my old mag) and never got "carded" hehehe. Imagine seeing one of those signs saying "WE CARD-If you were born after this date in 1985, you cannot buy PAINTBALLs. WE CARD"

I normally buy paint from my local proshop but when i have to get paint form walmart i usually do the same as you. scan the paint then scan something else quickly. i dont have to worry bout that anymore seeing as how a friend or 2 are cashiers there.

Thanks guys. I'm writing the paper as you respond. Any small details are great! I like the idea of a "We Card under 18" for paintballs. I'll post the final essay when it's done and graded, probably some time this Thursday.

first off..buying paint at walmart? ewww. Anyway I don't think any of the shops i've been in have carded anyone. I know walmart does though, but i'm not sure what your talking about scanning a pack of gum after scanning the paint....is it one of those new fangled self checkout things?

No... when the cashier rings up a case of paint the LCD display pops up a messege saying "Is Buyer 18+?". She sees the messege and asks me for my ID. If I throw a piece of gum under her scanner, the messege is replaced by the price of the gum. (It would read, "Wrig. Gum 1.99" or something like that)

thats stupid. same thing where I live. I cant buy paintballs at walmart unless Im 18(I was in a hurry), but I can go buy hunting pellets to shoot my neighbors cat that's been leaving prints on my jeep. you can buy pellets at 16, but paintballs at 18?? wtf is up w/ that?

I think the restriction is just an industry safety standard that is agreed to and it involves markers not paintballs themselves. Whenever I sell a marker to a minor I ask for the parents to contact me and tell me its ok and I prefer shipping to the parents attention even then. Parts and accessories I do not. Markers I do.

But outside of that its up to each Seller to determine if they chose to sell the paintballs to minors. They may chose not to if they think it would be in thier best interest.

i can buy paintballs here but some places don't let me fill a co2 tank.. total bull****...

everything else i can buy.. since i was 16 i had my own card and stuff so i just ordered online.. so they just supposed i was 18... i'm 17 now..

at my feild u have to have a wavier if u are under age stating that you can purchase paint/AIR without an adult only if it is signed... wich you can forge a signature anyways like the owners would know... but at wally world and academy places like that dont card you just have an adult by u when u pay and they let you..! i hope that helps
