oh man, great story for you on this.

before my store opened we had to get it at walmart, most of hte time we didn't have that hard of a time, but 2 times it was classic. came up with the paint, the lady (fairly young, mid 20's prolly) asked us if we had a parent with us, i said no we don't, my freind then said we could go find a parent...so we brought back some lady to pose as our mom, she sold us the paint laughing. the next day we went back, same lady, same thing, but this time when she asked us if we had a parent this time we just said "oh come on, you already know my mom, she was here yesterday" and we got it again.

Im 34 and yes I bought VL I-Balz at Wally and yes the computer said Check ID. The girl said you have to be 18 to buy paintballs.

Just to note. I have a teenage cousin who is mentle and his parents are wealthy. SO the father bought him a paintball gun and a dirt bike.

He did something to the air bottle and it exploded. He also wrecked the dirt bike into a car and destroyed a car.

For some kids I dont think it would matter if they were 56. The would still screw up but thats how the world is. You leave some kids home and they make soup or pie. You leave some kids home and they burn the house down. SO the government says you cant leave your kids home alone.

          Make sense?

well reguardless... these people want SOME adult to share the responsibity that they have in selling them to you. Because they have no idea if you will be supervised and use them correctly. Because SOME parents may not know you have em and not want you to have them they have to make sure. I can see their point and concern. It's all about Liability. And you know there is a "rule" because someone got burned when there was not "a rule". So its not thier fault they have to do this. Its some PARENTS fault.

Ever wonder why NPPL rules say no shooting at Hang Gliders? Well... I would suspect some idiot did it!

That's a stupid rule. They look like dorito bunkers, so it's not the players fault.

                It's a liability thing.

Some areas in the country it's illegal to sell paintballs to those under 18, and it's just easier to have a blanket policy than figure out where you can and can't sell them.

I also know of at least one lawsuit where walmart was sued after kid A shot out the eye of Kid B (outlaw game where kid B decided goggles were not necessary) on the basis that Wal-Mart sold one of them paintballs even though they were under 18 years of age.

harr harr... i remember when i went to wal-mart with my friend and his mom to get paintballs. they bought them, and then i bought mine seperately. the lady asked me if i was 18 and i remember thinking (do you really need to ask?), and i told her i wasnt. she said i had to be 18 to buy them and i was like "this sucks" so my friends mom told the lady that she was my mom, and bought them for me

There are three things I try when I have to buy paint from walmart.

                    1. Go to the line with the trainee cashier and distract them from the register as they scan the paint.

                    2. Get a friend to check you out. If you have one...

                    3. Say you left your id in the car. Sometimes they won't make you go get it.

Ofcourse it helps if you kind of look 18.

When i was around 14 (and just getting into paintball) the local army surplus store (that also fills tanks) asked if I had a parent. But since then (i'm not 16) they havent mentioned it at all.

Also, the neighbor kid accross the street who is like 14 went to meijers to buy a cheap paintball package. They wouldnt let him so they had a guy do it. Well the guy didnt give the kid the receipt and the kid came to find out that someone had ripped open the package and took all the internal parts! And meijers wouldnt take it back without a receipt.

fields can usually get away with it because they know you're going to be safe and their insurance allows thme to sell it to under 18s (assuming allowed by state/local law). They pay for that power. Wal-Mart, selling a whole heck of a lot more paint, isn't able to sell them to under 18s while keeping costs down and I'm sure Brass Eagle, the top supplier in Wally, has something to do with it as well

I've never had trouble at Walmart 'cause I work there, so I just get one of my friends to ring it up

However I do have trouble at Army Navy if I want to get my air filled. I find, though, that if I just don't shave for a few days and walk in there wearing camo and a camo bucket hat that sorta covers my face, they usually just assume I'm 18.

And buying paint at Walmart isn't so bad if you're just practicing or shooting around with your friends. It's cheap and as long as you buy a decent brand name and check the box to make sure nothing broke, you'll be fine. I find that Diablo Dusks are just about as good as Blaze and quite a bit cheaper (especially with my Walmart discount card )
