Just cause I gotta brag, oh, and ask a question in the process
Ok... the other day I was playing at a tournament (local 3 man). 3 division (Rookie, novice, open) and I am playing rookie (second tournament for me - first for one of my teammates). So the top two teams from each division go to finals and we, through some miracle, manage to make finals. (We overall got slaughtered).
Early in the day it had begun to rain, at the advise of the more experienced team from our field we had taped our barrels. Later it was nice and we removed the tape and played.
So its starting to drizzle in the finals, with little or no staging time between games - the drizzle gets harder and harder and we walk out to be faced by the first team in the open division (all carrying sponsor given e-blades). It is raining hard now, torrential type rain. I mean I could barely see the center of the field (short field). No thunder or lightning so we are going to play, its a noisey hyperball field of course. At the signal to go I make a mad dash for the flag (no taped barrels, low visibility, and rain). I get the flag and dive behind the bunker. I sit there long enough to realize I need to move, so I jump the snake and land in a bunker. I get in a battle with one of the other team at the center of the field at about the forty and somehow manage to win (now this is important, I saw the air coming from his gun as he shot). I shot out the other person in the snake (who did not know I was there) - who did return fire and yell for paintchecks, which the refs did - then moved forward, the other member of the team did not know I was there, or he was alone, and was trying to take out one of my back players. I saw his backblock moving (I think) before I bunkered him. I hang the flag we MAX score against the best team there that day - I'm psyched (we came in fifth out of six teams in the final, got a cool Raven back pack for it too).
Here's the question for the rest of you - coming off the field they complained to their sister team that there guns did not work - this is sad if its true, cause my teammates use an Angel and a Spider and both worked fine. Now I realize no gun out there shot well, but are the e-blades that sensitive to rain or is this just a line to explain the loss? I feel we just adapted better to the conditions and won because of it... am I being arrogant in thinking this?
And btw, it explained quickly to me team why I still shoot a mechanical gun as my primary.
