The blue one was the prototype 4500. I would listen to that later instructions. Its been my experience that is more correct. I have run them down. And I think your secondary reg should even any fluctuation out down when the tank is lower than 700. It's just a recharge rate. But its ability to get back to and feed the 400 you need is still there from what I have seen. That's realy all that matters. I suspect you will be fine until you approach that 400 range. I know I have run them down to 600 without anything noticable. If it was lagging it was almost undetectable with the naked eye. And I have regularly set them at 700 and 750 or so and run them that way all the time.

Well, I heard a rumor at lunch from an AGD tech (who's name is left unmentioned to protect the innocent...) That the springpack can be replaced with one from an AIR valve which will knock the operating range to down to between 400 and 800.

        Seems to make sense...

The afore mentioned tech can weigh in if he likes.

Now that I think about it I kinda, sorta remember Jon saying something about springpacks at the tech class...

They been doing that for years. On the 3000's long before as well. Nothing new there. But I do not personaly know how well it works. I know it works to some extent but never done it myself. So I do not go out and recomend it since I have no first hand experience with it.

                On the springs packs.

The ones that ship with the tanks are tuned for 600-800 psi out. If you need less than that and get a good fast recharge you need to lower the regs sweet spot.

The Automags Spring pack is tuned for 300-450 ish psi. I have a few timmys running around singled reged, not something I would suggest but they do it. I also have a few Excals and Viking running 400 psi out to their sidewinders.

Its just a matter of tweaking your pressure swet spot.
