There is this guy that I paintball with that is your run-of-the-mill, I have a lot of money so I am going to buy the gear that seems good to me, no matter what the facts are paintballer. In case you are not sure what I meen I will epxplain his setup. This guy's marker is a spyder that is more or less stock except for an elecric trigger frame that enables it to run full-auto and a ridiclously long barrel with a 7 inch silencer on the end. Wether or not the barrel has porting I have no idea, if it does than the ports are covered by electrical tape used to secure the silencer. He claims that his 20 in. barrel (literally, 24 inches!) makes his gun extremely accurate. I am almost positive that this ridiculous length not only does not make his spyder supremely accurate but that it actually hinders the accuracy. If anyone knows why exactly this is or is not true I would greatly apreciate your input(and yes I have read "Barrel Efficiency, Tech Tip #1").
A 24 in. barrel, is it even worth it?

not if you value your effiecency at all

The more long a barrel is does NOT equal more accuracy. In fact, his efficiency is going down the drain if he shoots up to speed! Thats just stupid, a quality 12" or other reasonably sized barrel would be far more accurate than something stupid like that. That so stupid! I just wanna go there and own his stupid butt! Agh...

16" is the MAXIMUM any reasonable person should use, and even then it is kind of ridiculous. I guess it'd be fine for a backplayer in airball, but for anyone else: lose the length.
I personally consider 14" to be pretty long, and 10" and 12" to be the normal lengths. 10" for speedball and 12" for woods. I stick with 12" (except for 10" for the A5, due to gun length) b/c I like woods over speedball. but if I was to play speedball, I'd use a 10" barrel.POG Member #919

I think a 24in barrel would be AWESOME! Well, only for the haha-factor, but still cool.
