used to. But idk, not i figure that my dye pants are baggy enough that they should absorb much of any such impact.

              I swear by it.
My teammates would do random "cup checks". You learn quick to not forget. (ignore the connotation - jedi voice)
Besides, I never want to know how it feels to get shot there. Close a couple of times, and thats been enough.

After getting shot there with a ball of paper from a paintball gun from less than 5 feet behind me (lol, yes, behind me... and paper going 300 fps HURTS!!), and getting shot there (with cup on, THANK GOD) several times at Pev's... YES, I WEAR ONE!!

I do. I told myself I'd wait until I took a hit there, then decide. Well, one day (rec ball) I took a grazing hit, not even a break or a direct hit...I ended up layed out on my back shooting over my legs...wishing I'd worn one. Now, I only even notice it when I'm not playing. And having taken 2 or 3 hits in that area since I started wearing it, it's really worth it.

that most people would take it as some kind
of sexual suggestion rather than an attempt
                    to infer one's final destination."

I've seen worse, at rotten.com, but I must admit that's awfully bad. The problem is, really, that they can be very...bulky... :P unless you're used to it, it just doesn't feel right. I bought one when I began playing, and wore it once or twice..but it was just too damn much trouble. I've only been hit once near there, and it was on the inner side of the thigh an inch or two to the right of the gear. However, I took a round to the neck last weekend at relatively close range (he popped up on me in the woods, I stumbled away shouting and gesticulating something about aiming lower next time). I suppose it's largely a matter of fps and impact angle, but most of the time it isn't likely to be hit there. Unless you're running, and someone aims low..on a related note, I don't think I've ever been hit in my shins or the back of my lower leg. Strange, really, how hits tend to pattern themselves...
On a related note, a friend of mine went out for a 12-hour scenario game last year, at Wayne's. He's a bit tall, which I suspect was a factor in his injury. Somehow he managed to catch a ball to the back of the neck, on his spine. He was apparantly out for a few seconds, and had serious neck pain for days. From what I heard, the entire game was shut down while they took him off the field and to the hospital. The irony of it being that it was either his first or second time paintballing, and he gets the one-in-a-million hit. I don't know if he still plays, although I hope so. After this thread, I suspect I'll make more effort to protect myself...
