A swing or hinge (same thing) frame is easier to shoot and time, and harder to shortstroke.

    Hope this helps.
I think the slider should be his choice, I personally love the feel of the slider frames, so I got a really good one for my cocker. Its impossible to short stroke because I timed it so close together (the sear and 3way).

How to identify a cockers year:
    -Pre 2k:
This is the easiest, it only has a cocking rod groove on one side. The right side is completely flat. The backblock is squareish, and the edges aren't rounded.
    -2k:
The body has a jewel (or had), and it has a groove milled on both sides. The front block is square with unrounded edges. The backblock has grooves milled into the bottom, but the edges on the top aren't rounded.
    -2k1:
Same as the 2k, except the edges of the backblock's top are rounded.
    -2k2:
Same as the 2k1, except the front block is also rounded (not just a square block of aluminum).
    -2k3:
Nice "swoosh" milling on the body.

Cant get a pic, but for whoever asked, it does have the cocking arm slots on both sides, the back block does have a triangular shape, and Im pretty sure its a threaded rod
Sounds like its 2k-2k2, but thats not enough info yet.

If you post a pick, I'll tell you what year it is
