the crown point that I got with my mag was a kick *** barrel.
Very true. wish I could get 'em in different bore sizes.

And I'll quote tom here... "I should have gone into buisness making aluminum tubes" :-)
So then he decides to make the ULE bodies. I just wish we could have a multi-bore barrel system with AGD quality. Ah well, can't have everything you want.

blah, this is way off subject....

That would be like Xerox suing computer manufacturers because they developed computers that run on electricity. I mean, come on.
Question of the year apparently. I would love to see this as well. I'm new to this, so I don't even know who's being sued. I would think it's to their advantage to publish the actual complaint as well. Even if they won't, it HAS to be a matter of public record if anyone knows where the suit was filed.

From what I understand of the issue, that is totaly correct Meph. Since SP's patent only covers whole
e-markers, not e-grips by themselves as far as im aware atleast.
So TK and the boys could easily and hassle free develop an e-blade/race type frame for the mag aslong as its develped as an upgrade?
But if im wrong, please someone feel free to correct me

ok, if you wounder what the "patent" coveres and what it does not, ask yourself does this use electronics to cycle a paintball gun; if you answer is yes then YES it is covered by the SP "patent"

hmmmmm ahh well, better to be set straight than to be let loose(sp?) with false info I guess.

Just one question though. Does the patent apply to just the USA? Or can it be enforced pretty much world wide?

                Cheers

                  Patent list....

Well, couldn't find the lawsuit searching at FindLaw.com, but I was able to find a bunch of Smart Parts patents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office web site. Just do a search for them. For example, patent 5,881,707 appears to be for the Shocker.

Now, which patent is Smart Parts claiming IP theft under? Anyone know where the suit was filed? I'd like to know the precise reasoning behind their claim.

And Powerlyte better watch out, lest Smart Parts decide to sue them under patent 6,494,195 (the Freak Barrel system patent).

                  From the abstract:

A barrel assembly for a pneumatic paintball gun includes a barrel body and a barrel insert. The barrel body has a breech end, a muzzle end, and a barrel bore extending longitudinally through the barrel body from the breech end to the muzzle end. The barrel insert has a breech end, a distal end, and an insert bore, and is configured to be removably housed within a breech portion of the bore of the barrel body.
