Believe it or not, you dont need high quality materials to make a gun shoot great. A rat jr with a super pack, and was board will outpreform any bushy. The trigger will be hundreds of times better. I have never felt a worse electro trigger then a stock bushy, it is sooo sloppy. Hell, Id take a stock imp pull over a stock bushy. FSDO is not a big deal as some of you make it out to be. On average, you will need to fire 1 or 2 shots before the game to clear it until the next game. Sometimes you get fsdo only at the beginning of the day, and sometimes it is much worse, but if you have atleast a tapeworm your fsdo should not be bad. All I here is talk from bushmaster owners, I have tried a fully vaporized b2k and ace. I wasn't impressed at all. He put a lot of money into it and it shot similar to my mildly upgraded imp. SP cut corners with there gun to get it at that 400 dollar price tag, ICD did not cut corners and hell there gun is more money. People need to look outside stock imps and just look around www.e-paintballoutlet.com they have awesome deals on imps, and they have packages with lprs and blade triggers installed for not much extra. I think the best part about imps is there ability to run on co2 and how good they run on it. Kids want a high end gun but dont want to shell out the money for a nice nitro tank, so while they save they can run it on co2. 75% of the people here are most likely saying bushy because OMG BOYCOT SP!!!111!! They are just hype driven monkies, people started with all there crazy anti-sp propoganda and people just couldn't let go of it.
BUSHY vs IMP

Actually, I didn't address the Imp, because I've never shot one. I did however, compare it to the Timmy I had, and as I said before, I prefered the BM2K to it. Also, you can run a BM2K or a BKO on CO2. It just depends on how it's set up (anti-siphon, etc).Originally posted by tony3

Maybe not. But you need high quality materials to make it last.
A rat jr with a super pack, and was board will outpreform any bushy.
How so?
The trigger will be hundreds of times better. I have never felt a worse electro trigger then a stock bushy, it is sooo sloppy.
I like how you failed to mention the gen. The 2K3 and newer Bushy's have great triggers. A stock Imp trigger is unacceptabely sloppy and unadjustable.
Hell, Id take a stock imp pull over a stock bushy.
Ok, atleast you wouldn't take an Impulse over one.

FSDO should not exist AT ALL. It is a design flaw due to a poorly constructed gun. I've seen Imps that had FSDO after leaving the gun alone for 3 or 4 minutes. I don't want to deal with that crap when there are other guns that don't have it.

Uh, Ok.
SP cut corners with there gun to get it at that 400 dollar price tag, ICD did not cut corners and hell there gun is more money.
Atleast you admitted they cut corners. The Bushy is about $90 more. But for an Imp to perform similarly, you need a lot more than $90 in upgrades.
People need to look outside stock imps and just look around www.e-paintballoutlet.com they have awesome deals on imps, and they have packages with lprs and blade triggers installed for not much extra.
So we get an crappy gun with upgrades? Kind of like when people "trick out" their Spyders? If I want to spend more money on a gun, I'll get an LCD Matrix, a Viking, or maybe a Timmy.
I think the best part about imps is there ability to run on co2 and how good they run on it. Kids want a high end gun but dont want to shell out the money for a nice nitro tank, so while they save they can run it on co2.
When was the last time you honestly saw someone run an Imp on C02?
75% of the people here are most likely saying bushy because OMG BOYCOT SP!!!111!!
Yes, and because the Impulse is a steaming peice of toucan crap.
They are just hype driven monkies, people started with all there crazy anti-sp propoganda and people just couldn't let go of it.
And vice versa. Tons of SP owners like yourself will defend this heavily flawed gun 'till the end.Converge Kills

ok stop the discussion. I bought a Rat JR college pack one. It was $550 and i am excited about it. The points made about the imp are all valid according to what the stock impulse can do, but the rat has very few stock parts. VFF sounds like an excellent addition to the rat. The only thing i might be ify on is the voodoo bolt, but if i have problems, i can always get a NDZ.

And look at me care
I could go on why I like imps but it won't do me any good except waste my weekend.
At any rate, you can cure the post-lpr FSDO problem by replacing the solenoid spring. www.airsoldier.com sells them.
Imps have become the newb "super gun". I attribute this to SP's marketing techniques (10+ adds in an PB magazine, "I shoot an Impulse because I want to win" instead of "I shoot an Impulse because I got one for free and SP pays me").Shoot it like you stole it!

I realize you have already made your decision but I thought I would add some insight to others who may be looking into a similar decision.
We are essentially in the world where electros are the de facto standard, if not the norm for pro through intermediate players these days (yes I know there are always exceptions). Everyone is looking to get more bang for their buck, especially in the 300-500 dollar range, and the impulse fits this niche perfectly. I associate a stock impy with a stock cocker. While they are both decent markers out of the box, performance of both improve dramatically with upgrades. Just as a shorter 3-way will improve rate of fire on the cocker, a blade trigger will do the same for the impulse. Each marker provides a decent starting block with which to build on, while still maintaining a balance in your bank account. In this frame of reference I have no problem recommending an impulse.
Another thing to look at is the aftermarket for each marker. Long gone are the days of full camo, so everyone needs to be colorful and different, hence performance and cosmetic upgrades. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that the impulse has a significant aftermarket. Heck e-paintballoutlet has made most of their living from selling impulses and accessories. I'm not aware of any Bushmaster "supercenters".
Just as you want to find quality parts, you want to find qualified service people to help you fix your marker when it fails. (And don't forget all markers will break eventually so it's only a matter of time). The impulse has an arguably bigger user base, hence more knowledgeable technicians to help you out of a jam. http://www.impulseownersgroup.com had around 140,000 posts last time I checked. I could also argue about all the 'custom' impulses that exist but you get my drift.
Does the lawsuit hurt the pb industry? No doubt in my mind. However, everyone knows that Smart Parts will be around in 5 years. Go ask a Tribal owner how fun it is to find replacement parts or qualified service technicians for his/her marker.
Oh yeah.. umm shot a 2k2 vision impy all of last year. All the ups, (blade trig, slik ram, bolt, bolt pin, valve, hammer, grips, freak, lpr, blah blah blah). The marker has fsdo if it's been sitting for a while (got used to it after a while), and the vision works about 75% of the time (nothing worse than hearing that beep-beep-beep when you're just about to get the paint rope on someone). Other than that, I could get at least 7 pods + hopper off a 68 4500 fill and that suno***un shoots fast, real fast.

www.tantrumpaintball.com and http://www.vaporworks.net/icd.htm are a few ICD shops.
Comparing a stock cocker to a stock imp doesn't make sense. Most upgrades for a [2k3] cocker do little for overall performance and those that do, don't cost a veritible arm and leg.
I also find it odd that Smart Parts can get $450 for the Impulse (essentiall a valve, ram, a set of alarm clock electronics, and a solenoid) and WGP sell their autococker for $300 (many, many more finely crafted, intricate parts).
The days of camo are still here and aren't going anywhere. If they were long-gone, the industry would be on the rocks and the game's days would be numbered.
FSDO and eye problems? That's more than I would accept from a $600+ gun.Shoot it like you stole it!
