I don't even own a Jersey! Being in the military for 10 1/2 years I have quite a collection of camo. It is basically free and does wear like iron. Tons of pockets and plenty of room. I mostly play rec and lots of woods fields so that is a benefit.

      I wear a mixture...

I wear old tiger stripe bdu pants and a deer hunting camo turtle neck. If it is cold, I throw on the tiger stripe jacket. I find the military bdu's last longer cause they have double knees and elbows...

If camo on a hyperball field is 'just plain silly'...exactly what benefits does a black/yellow/blue/whatever jersey give you?

NOTHING. Whereas, wearing your brightly colored outfit just says 'shoot me' on the woods field. :)

Okay, BDUs last longer and are basically free or easy to get (have to have them anyway) and they give advantages 2 ways. One is the camo, but the other is people see me with rank and unit insignia and think I'm some Billy D. because I practice battle drills in squad STX. Besides, everything's training and training is everything. If I did go into combat having played in BDUs helps to get used to them. Although I substitute my LCE for a pack. :P

          So the non-military may understand...
          BDU - Battle Dress Uniform
          STX - Situational Training Exercise
          LCE - Load Carrying Equipment
Early to rise and early to bed may make a man healthy but socially dead.

my whole crew of recball friends wear camo suits of some sort, and most of us wear combat boots as well. in my opinion, its comfortable and useful. camo is useful for more than just patient snipers. i'm not a patient player by any means, but that doesn't mean that camo doesn't help me blend in. i find it to be especially useful on wide flanking movements, when you move and stop constantly. since the colors blend in, it's hard for an opponent to spot you. though i have to say, i'd rather have a setup similar to my LBE than the two guppie pouch i carry. i like the suspenders/pistol belt setup better, personally. i find it more comfortable

I play in the woods so I wear whatever camo matches it.

Often now I play very agressively at the front and move around and shoot alot, so camo in this case isn't very useful. Every time I play though there is at least one time when I see someone coming through thick woods and sit real still until I have a clear shot. I couldn't do it without the camo.

On top of that, military issue clothing can go through pretty much anything. It's COLD here, and I have a camo jacket which is totally happy to be thrown in the wash every week. You just can't do that with most clothes.

As for the argument about what people think about it, if I cared what people think I wouldn't have taken up paintball at age 33.. so stuff that.

I like camo and I'm peeved at the whole camo = military association, and the assumption that this is NEGATIVE. I thought we were being patriotic this year. Why do people have the automatic belief that Military = Bad? What kind of support is it to those fighting in Afghanistan that we think that anything associated with the military is to be avoided?

I wear BDU pants because they are very, very durable and I am hard on pants. Also they are as cheap as jeans or anything else. They have lots of pockets for stuff like swabs and barrel plugs. I shoot all the time and don't like crawling in the woods because my gun gets dirty. I like fast speedball on sand.

                  Camo BDUs for me.

                  Nothing wears better than BDUs.

And I hate wearing anything clothing that has company logos on it. Unless of course, it's my company logo.

No offense to all u loyal cammoers but i think its pointless. It seems to me that the only people that where camo(at my field) are newbies that don't know much about paintballing. I've never really been tricked by camo and i'll go into the woods wearing bright orange t-shirts and jerseys and i'll blend in just fine.

And in speedball if you wear camo... well... just don't ever let me see you do that

For a day of rec, I put on a long sleeved camo shirt, then over it a a loose dark colored t-shirt...that way people don't expect me to play very well. Ya know, the whole "Oh my God! He's wearing a jersey!! He must be a pro!" thing...:)

one of the kids we play with has a clear vl revvy, and he uses pink paint. that tends to stand out whereever he is, even if he's trying to hide it in brush. another kid carrys a realtree camo duck blind with him, and has ambushed us three times(luckily he's a poor shot and only succeeded once). even when we were on the lookout for the blind, we couldn't see it. perhaps poor eyesight is an excuse for one person, but not a team of 7. i know everyone has their own opinion, but i feel there's no subsitute for camo in a recball environment. it's saved my arse several times, and if you know where to place yourself to blend in, it can be a huge advantage

xmetal, maybe you should call up the military and tell them how much money they're wasting on camo BDUs. i'm sure they'd appreciate the advice :)
