Well... I'm upset to say the least.

All right here's my story. I've been playing for a little over four years now. For that whole time I've been using a Tippmann 98 custom and have moded it a lot over the years (over $850 worth). I'm ready (to say the least) to move up to a different marker. Well I looked at the RT ULE custom because I want a mech that can really rip and something that can work with my budget. I don't have the money for a pricey electro and I'm sick and tired of running out of batteries mid game. So anyway I really like what I've seen. I think a mag is really right for me. Now here's where I get po'd. A couple of fellow players at my highschool have been badmouthing mags. When I said I was getting one their responses were all: "Oh just save up a little more and get a custom impy or timmy!" When I said I can't afford those guns and I really thought that a mag was for me, they persisted. "You'll never get your money's worth for it when you sell it. It's not as good as those other guns. They're outdated. They're slow. They suck. Etc." Now the comment that upsetted me was, "You will never be able to keep up with the other guns with a mag." Well I know that mags are great guns and the RT ULE custom is able to go 26bps without shootdown. But seriously guys, how have you fared against other players with timmies, imps, shockers, matrixes, and angels with your RT mags? I'm sort of discouraged now. I really wanted this gun... now I really don't know what I want anymore. Please share some of your stories against higher end guns and how your retro and x-valved mags have fared you. Thank you so much for your time.
    Regards,
    Pete

ok ... i have had 3 mags in my life time .. and yes i currently own a pimped impy .. but i still hurt people with timmies and trixes ... its all a matter of skill .. look at AGD Pride and Team Violator.. they all shoot mags and they hurt alotta people .. dont get discouraged because the kids that have spyders with a noid and an espirt trigger tell you that mags suck ...

I prefer my mechanical mag, it always seems to rain on tournament days (at least half the ones I play in) and its hilarious to watch my teammates and the other team rush off the field to get their guns dry when I just toss mine onto the table LOL... I fair well enough against other markers though I do play front so ROF is not taht important to me

Geeze Pete... do you have a mind of your own or are you their little lacky? YOU chose it and YOU researched it and YOU decided it was fast and rock solid....And...then you let some body else decide what you think? Maybe your not ready to move up to a mag... Maybe you not got the back bone to stick up for what you know is right. Maybe you listen to other people and don't trust your own instincts. How many mags have those guys owned? Think Pete... think!!!!

Be a man. Make your own decisions. I know I being hard on ya but this is not about Mags anymore. This is about peer pressure and time for people to grow up and do what they think is best and not be lead around by the nose. Time for you to grow up!

...and that's the reason why AGD isn't in the spotlight anymore. Too many bad myths about mags.

Go ahead and show them the videos from this thread: http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...man+ripping+on

Ask them where the slow, outdated mag is. Cause all I see is a fast ULE RT Pro.

Okay, well I think that cPhilip is being a bit harsh on you. Don't worry about it man, Mags are high-end mechs, to be sure. Easily comparable with a cocker!

In terms of Timmies, Matrixes, etc... I shoot an Omen, a TES and a (soon to be) Dallara X [mag]. I love the mag as much as any of the other markers...it all depends on my preference that day.

I would recommend, personally, the ULE custom (w/out the ULT) and I think that you'll be doing just fine.

Well! I can assure you that when they started slinging these mag bashing statements around I stood my ground. I certainly have enough integrity to stand up to peer pressure. The thing is, they've been playing for around 6-7 years now and they're not a bunch of kids with etrigger spyders. They have freeflows, timmies and shockers. I wasjust a little discouraged is all. I'm smart enough to know that the mag has been around as long as it has because it's great. I know what's best for me, I just wanted more input from people who've used mags. I definately don't want to be considered a kid who goes along with what everyone else thinks is cool. I'm not like that. Now I appreciate your input and I understand your concern about kids giving in to peer pressure. I'm going with the RT ULE custom. And when I play with these hotshots next, I can't wait to sick it on 'em! Now the other question I have now is why no ULT? I heard from some other people on this site that with the ULT you can almost walk an XRT. I'd love to do that. I really don't like heavy trigger pulls. Here's what I was thinking of getting:
              RT ULE Custom
              ULE vert Body
              Intelliframe blade or Y-grip
              ULT
That setup sounded to me like it would suit my style of play (frontman) just right. I've heard it increases the chance of shortstroking, but I can get used to it. I'm not afraid of working at something so I can get good at it. What's wrong with the ULT?
              Thanks again all.

I spent months researching what gun to get before I got a 'Mag. In fact it's an RT/Pro. Never let me down, and never gave me a cause to envy the Impy, Timmys, Angles, etc.
And, i've tagged people with all kinds of markers, it's all a matter of skill.

Pete, listen to these guys. They DO know what they speak of. Mags are GREAT and dont EVER let anyone tell you different. You can actually SHOW THEM THE VIDEO! I will match a Mag with any other gun on the planet and come out a winner everytime. All guns have their own little quirks, but none can say they have the engineering and quality that is built into the Mag. If you need to ask ANYTHING about a Mag, you just contact me too...and we will keep you smiling for sure.

pete, those r the people that i like to call ignorant, and arrogant, all they think about is the money, and how if u spend more, u get a better gun. altho that may be tru to a certain point. i have a friend who has owned a 03 shocker, cocker w/e-frame, and now a matrix. he shot my new ULE RT custom, wanted to get one for himself. so just tell um to think outside their checkbook

Well Pete, you certainly don't get a 'Mag because of braging rights ... I honestly consider myself some sort of a rebel as Ontario has some of the fewest 'Mag owners around! I say go with your own gut instincts and make your own decistions. If you buy a marker because someone else thinks it's cool, I doubt you'll like using it.
