Paintball is still just a game isn't it?

Wow lots of drama around here lately.

But Paintball is not a religion, nor way of life. It is just a game. Shouldn't we all just have fun! Maybe some people here make their livelihood from paintball, but it is still not life or death.

I just hope everyone realizes that we should keep it in perspective. In another thread, Muzikman had a great post about Family and friends come first. They do.

I just wanted to post these thoughts and ask for yours. Paintball should be fun or not in your life at all, right?

Depends... Paintball is almost life for me, after my mom and friends. But I'm not going to ever stop playing it for some arguements people are making online and at local fields. Paintball is the best sport for me right now ( It used to be baseball this and football that) Not anymore.

Yes, I very commonly forget that even though I own a proshop it's just a game, but in the end it really is and should always be played for fun, not for money or sponsors.

For me personally, its all about the fun. I don't want to play tournaments. I don't want to be on a regular "team". It seems those 2 things seem to suck the fun out of it for a lot of people. Its one thing to play with your friends as a group. But when you start taking it too seriously the fun goes away.

At the end of the day, I want to look back and laugh at the good and bad things that happened that day, not dwell on what I or my team could and should have done. You win some and you lose some, its just a game.

The day paintball stops being fun for me, is the day I stop playing.

I think that for some it is more than a game, but that is not a bad thing. I for one make a living from the sport, as well as play it. And I enjoy them both.

But I think where the problems come in is when folks start thinking themselves more important in the big picture than they really are. Or that the game is more important than it really is. Or that getting themselves put up on that ivory pedestal is their only goal and it is more important than the game itself and simply having fun.

Some folks would rather hang from the gallows while being in the spotlight, than have fun playing in the shadows.

I guess it is a matter of priorities and what we want out of life. To each their own..... as long as it does not affect MINE.

                  Yeah, but...

Like any hobby/game there are always gonna be folks that take it more seriously than others. I mean soccer/football is just a game, but folks get hurt really badly at those events in Europe/UK often enough to stay in the papers. I love paintball, and I am sure I am fairly irritating to folks that don't. I also know that I have seen some behaviour from tournament players even at the local field (which is super small) that really makes me wonder if I care enough to be competitive.

I guess maybe it's an indication of what a great game paintball is thst folks can get so bent out of shape over it.
