    DYE Sweatshops?

A little while ago, I read something (not sure where) about DYE using sweatshops to make their merchandise. Is this just a rumor, or true?

    Thanks,

      It's all made in China

China is one big sweat shop, lol

It will be a long time before Dye gets any heat like Nike got heat for having their product made in China.

Not exactly. Although they probably get the material from "overseas" CSG makes their jerseys.

Tom is exactly right. For any kind of large-scale production, especially of soft goods like shoes and pants, there's no way an American company, paying it's employees a fair wage, and having to conform to everything from Unions, to OSHA, to Unemployment Insurance to the Clean Air Act, can compete with a Chinese, Taiwanese, Indonesian or Vietnamese 'sweatshop' that has to pay no insurance, has no official/federal oversight, pays it's employees the equivalent of $2 a day, and can dump its refuse and wastes in an open pit somewhere.

And if you think that's a "bad" thing (keep jobs in America, etc) then I suggest you take a real close look at the PC you're sitting in front of. I'll eat my hat if more than maybe five percent of it- if that much- was made in the US.

The fact of the matter is, whether or not they're "better", American-made goods cost more. And American consumers have time and time again gone for the cheap and not-quite-as-good import over the better-quality-but-three-times-the-price American product.

Levis Jeans just closed their last US plant to move their production overseas- and the entire reason for it was because consumers are buying up all the $35/pair jeans they can find, even if they're a little lower in quality, over the American-made $50/pair jeans.

Levis was operating at a loss for the past two years to keep their price even that low. Wrangler and others have been using overseas labor for years, and they're making a healthy profit on a price lower than Levis.

                Doc.

look closely on the microchips and see what it says. they may have just stamped that board in the US.

Which is what I was trying to get at... just because it was thrown together in the US doesn't mean the parts were made here.

Damn you Dave (DYE) if these are sweatshop stuff you could at least not charge me $130 a pair for them, come on... lets all get the advantages of exploiting cheap overseas labor.
