    A story about my stupidity.

Well here goes. The other day I but an automag for 100 dollars. Turnes out to be a great gun. I go to my local shop and get it set yo for co2 to use as a back up gun and for friends. Up to now all is well.

I get home and end up staring at my nice Air America Apocalypse 68/45 system that I use on my cocker. Hmm I think, why not just hook it up to the mag to use this weekend. Set up was easy, teflon tape all around, then it comes to turning up the reg. My cocker runs at 250psi and automags need 800. So I shut the system down, take off the lock ring and give it a turn. I then procede to turn it on, it should be noted between the tank and gun was macroline, old macroline. The output spiked and burst the macroline sending the quick relase fitting into my chest. I turned it off as quick as I could. Basically in 2 seconds my tank lost 1500psi. My output guage got twisted to hell, my macroline split in half, and my fitting for the macroline shot into my chest leaving me a bloody ring and a 3 by 2 inch bruise.

I was so worried about my stupidty for the way in which I did the procedure. I took it into my shop and they got me new fittings, macroline, new dye guage, fixed the blow off valve, and assured me that it was ok and everyone ****s up once in a while. They also reminded me that 4500psi does have the ability to rip your arm off and to never lose respect for what your holding under your arm. Cause they second you do it will bite you in the ***. I belive this is what happened to be and Im glad the lesson only cost me a bruised chest and ego.

This sport has some high power things in it. Never ever lose respect for them.

Time for a new ice pack. Oah yeah and the new Dye guage is bad ***. Just wish the upgrade had been easier.
    Peace and Crackers

Why bother with macroline? I have not used macroline since 2001 and will not for the rest of my playing career. I only recommend using stainless steel line. If you want color, go to radio shack and get some large diameter heat-shrink tubing and do that.

Stainless steel is good enough to perform brain surgery with. Why isn't it good enough to feed your gun with?

i had a similar thing happen to me, i had the tank turned off, but there was still some air left in the valve, and i took the valve out from the body, and the little on/off pin assembly shot accross my room, it took me forever to find those little o-rings. glad to hear your alright though. im also glad to hear about that dye guage, i just ordered one after my guage face cracked off.

the closest thing like this that happend to me was when i pulled out my valve while it was still gassed and the bolt spring shot out and hit me just under the eye and my on/off assembly went flying across my room

I am very happy I still have my vision. It really made me want to upgrade to stainless steel. It will not look as good because it will require me to make a big loop to get it to fit but in the end I think its what I need to do. It still really hurts, I think it hit one of my ribs. Ill have to remember that about the on off pin. I know that sometimes the gun has gas in it but wont shoot cause the preassure is not enough to trip it.

They Dye guage looks so sleak and sexy it makes me want to upgrade the other one to a dye guage. Its only 16.00 dollars but part of me hates to see the big visible air america guage go. They do look like they are from 1980.

I still think the convenience of macroline makes it worth it. If you use it properly you wont ever have a safety issue.

Yup, I've used it for 5 years and I've never once ran into a problem.

I like steel hose but I do agree with you guys that macro is so easy to use. Also the malfunction was because of the macro but had it been a new hose it would have been fine. I guess thats my fault that I didnt replace it. My ribs still frikin hurt.

                            Been there done that,

Mine was a Scuba Cylinder at 2250psi that was supposed to be regulated down to 150psi. It wasn't, I had one of those 25' yellow plastic self coiling shop hoses. When the 2250 hit it, It exploded right in front of my chest. Luckily I turned away just in time not to get my eyes but my arms looked like hamburger, I had little pieces stuck through my shirt into my chest and my hearing is permanently damaged. The biggest piece of the 25' hose we've found was about 2" and split in half. We're still finding pieces.

Pressure is deadly be careful with it.

The US Navy did a test once with a "T" cylinder. That's one of the about 5' tall ones 3500psi air . Inverted it and chopped the valve off. It went 764' straight up.
