    Blind Firing

Why is blind firing not allowed at many fields?

I don't get what's wrong with that. I can understand why people wouldnt want blind firing if there were spectators around but what if it's in a netted area? You know where the guy is so you just stick ur gun out and you fire a few shots.

Is there a good reason why blind firing is not allowed?

maybe the refs are just scared of being hit...

its cause your team mates are sick of getting shot in the nuts so much...

last time I saw someone blind fire I took 2 to the junk running back to teh insertion point during a scenario game.

leave the rookie moves at home... my junk will thank you later

it's dangerous for players and refs, why would you risk getting shot, and make up for your lack of snap shooting abilities
I knew not what I did but am now edumacated

It's simply too dangerous for everyone in the area, players and refs alike.

Blind firing can get a little rough on the reffs, and contrary to popular belief we don't care for getting hit. Also when I'm reffing private plays, we won't count gun hits if the players request it. That means that if you are blindfiring there is no way for the other team to shoot you. If you are not looking there is no way to tell if the player you are shooting at is hit or out.
In my opinion it also kind of defeats the spirit of the game. Paintball is a fast-paced agressive game, and blind firing does not fit that formula.

Also, blind firing can lead to overshooting, like if a player puts their gun into an enemy base and starts firing they may light everyone up inside a bunch of times, not fun.

At least, that's the reason we give at our field.

The only time I do what could be considered 'blind firing' is when popping out of a binker, I'll ocassionally come out firing. It "looks faster" to the shootee and can have a smidge of intimidation factor, and if I know where my guys are, extra paint toward thier guys is never a bad thing. I can understand the overshooting argument against 'real' blind firing.

Coming out shooting is Ok, because you are looking at where your shots are going.

It's sticking your marker out of a bunker and firing repeatedly that dangerous.

I know in woodsball games on my field its not allowed. Mostly because on a busy day of rec players alot of them don't follow the rules and like to take their goggles off to wipe em' down.

Now if you turned to corner and saw an opponent with his goggles off you'd yell at him right? But if you just swung your gun over a bunker or wall, the gun can't tell if its pointing at the eyes or not and it won't care if it blinds the player who was stupid enough to take his goggles off...

Its a safety issue people. =)

                        AGD Did someone call me?

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

why would you even blind fire. You don't know what your shooting at so someone can just shoot your gun.

the ironic thing is that new people, who are usually the only ones who do it, wont remember untill they had gone a few times, and by that time, they had already learned other ways to shoot..
