    04 cockers?

OK.. Before AO get's all over me for this - ha - I still love mags and have every intention of owning another...

I was interested in picking up a base cocker just to fool with. From what I hear, the 04's are pretty much the best bet to shoot out of the box, for the money. I'm not looking to drop 4-5-600 into one. What do you guys think? Or would I be better off picking up one 'brand new used' from a classifieds forum. I'm pretty much clueless with what's good and waht to stay away from. From what I gathered, the Orracles are pretty much some of the best ones to look at but again, i'm not looking to pay $600 for one. I just want something to toy around with and learn, since I've never used on in the 10+ years (since Jr High baby!) I've been playing paintball on-and-off.

I'd say get a used one. I just picked up a Freeflow Lotus for $430 shipped a few weeks ago. Definately better than a new stock cocker (2k4/Outkast/Orracle) & there's nothing to upgrade. But if you want new get a 2k3, you can find them for under $300 online now. The 2k4 is mostly just cosmetic upgrades.

I've been looking at an Autococker for the same reason (something to fool around with and learn), and I don't see that the 2K3s and 2K4s are that far apart in price. Where have you found 2K3s under $300?

      xtremez.com has the vert-feed 2K3 at $339.

paintball-discounters.com and xtremez both have the 2K4 at $359.

2k3/4 is a good way to go. You could pick up a very nice used one though, but you may opt ofr anew one, being your first cocker

My 03 came with a Hinge...

As far as I know ,the primary difference between the 03 and 04 is that the 04's LPR is adjustable, and the body is a slightly different style. Haven't seen one for myself to be sure, though.

              new milled body.
              Nickle smaller HRP
              nickle pneumatics
              smaller adjustable LPR
              new nickle beavertail
              nickle hinge frame
nickle bottomline with SS braid hose
              New ported stock barrel.

              I think that's about it.

              We have them at killer.

got it, thanks. i replied to you.

As for say the 03/04 Cockers. How are the pneumatics on them? Obviously as stock they aren't GREAT but are they decent enough to shoot well? A -new- 03 cocker is is $290 shipped on ebay... Worth the cash? Or will I just want to upgrade stuff like the pneumatics down the line?

Like I said, I'm flying blind on these things

Well, I'll tell you, I'm no expert on WGP cockers. I know that, for quite a long time now, the STO pneumatics have been regarded as the "cream of the crop" of WGP pneus (correct me if I'm wrong!)

thanks for the info WC. I have a few weeks to decide.. Besides I have my Omen and I love shooting that.. This is just more of a "I dont need it but why not" type buy... ya know? I'm sure a stock 03/04 will do fine for what I want.. And like us all, I know eventually if I decide to keep it i'll want to upgrade the *F* out of it
