When you're out to make money your stuff has to stand apart from the rest. Bigger numbers are easier to market, generally speaking.

I don't think it's insane, I think it makes sense. They (OGI) build hoppers for the entire market not just for individuals. If they made the hopper only as fast as the slowest shooter, then everyone else would suffer. BUT if they make it as fast as possible, nobody will have a problem.

It always sucks to not have a ball when you go to shoot, it never sucks for there to be one there.:)

I wonder what effect that has on the battery drain, that the motor is always spinning faster (and/or with more torque).

I dunno. At speeds like that, you might as well just shoot the balls out of the hopper instead of the gun. "MY HOPPER FEEDS AT 300 FPS!" But then I suppose you'd need a hopper for your, ergm, hopper.

In normal shooting at short to medium range there is no point in firing 35 rounds per second. If your first few rounds don't hit the target then sending another 20+ downrange at the same aiming point is just a waste of ammunition.

I know that paintballs are not very accurate projectiles and thus there will always be a natural spread when a gun fires, even under ideal conditions - therefore a high volume of fire does increase chances you will hit something. However, I think there is definately a point of diminishing returns. I think that point is probably around 10-12. Therefore shooting more than 12 rounds a second is just waisting paint and at $.025 a round firing 35 rps is wasting more than $.50. Not to mention the amount of cost necessary to get a marker, air, and feed system that performs that fast.

I know people will always try to have the biggest and fastest marker on the block. Like car stereo enthusiasts who spend thousands on a system they can impress their friends with but rarely use it themselves at its peak volume and base because at some point it is just too umcomfortably loud to sit in the car with. They exceeded a point of diminishing return and spent extra money on a sound system that puts out more volume than they could use effectively.

Anyway, if wasting money on a obscenely fast 35pbs system is your thing then have fun. I would prefer to buy two systems that perform very effectively up to 12pbs and bring a girlfriend or a friend when I play.

Why not do both? I do!

Besides you overlook the one aspect that supercedes ALL others. Coolness factor. No mater how good an argument you make, when you hear someone on the field start up and go over 20bps for a length of time, its DOES get your attention. Not only that but 50% of the people off the field turn and start watching.

Half the fun of paintball is the intimidation (within the context of the game of course).

I belive that even 20bps is plenty fast. While it may be cool to shoot over 30bps, it's not really practical. Just for show.

If this thing really feeds that fast, I'll buy it. More ammo cap than a Q-Loader.

I've been wanting to have a support gun for a long, long time, and finally I think I'll be able to do it. Just have to modify the sear and frame on my spyder to let it cycle on full auto. I've heard they cycle at 40? Can anyone verify this?

I can shoot 20bps on some guns. I can get about 25 on a WAS debounce1 timmi. I understand the need to market the higher numbers, but 35 is not only impractical, but improbable- make that impossible for a man shooting true simi. Its improbable shooting even on debounce 1... It seems they are encouraging cheater boards by releasing this software.
