Hey I would play a game where everyone had full-auto markers. I think that if this actually happened it would answer many of the question people put forth about the problem of cheater boards and high bps systems. If the game can be played fair when everyone has full auto.... seems to me that say a lot.

On a side note. I DO think there is a risk in going this way. You have to assume that if this flourishes, companies will start producing full-auto boards. This will probably start with the high-end markers but I would suspect it would trickle down to the cheaper spyders and such. This is more of the market low lifes and delinquents buy from to go vandalize and harass the public with. While most of those idiots are limited in the damage they can do, what happens if they have a full auto marker?

If everyone has full auto, where is the skill? Where is the sanp shooting? It will degenerate into a game of who can carry the most paint.

It will place skills elsewhere... On offense rather than defense.

Just think trying to move in a hail of FA fire.

But no one is going to move much. Once you get to the tapes, you are going to lock the field down. In FA fire, many more stalemates will ensue.

I'd say sure, make FA an option, but personally, I'd only do it if I had one too...

It'd have to be capped, 15ish would be fair I think, and the triggers would HAVE to be a minimum length pull and weight to cut down on bumped-tables setting them off.

I think its a move in the right direction, but its going to have to be done very cautiously, baby steps. I think it will definitely raise player accountability as well.

But... I'm really suprised its being brought up by the Europeans, this form of play would have a hard time getting any kind of authorization in places like Germany, where even a foregrip on your marker makes it illegal to possess...

                Look at it this way:
Right now, we are only allowed to shoot semi auto. What has this produced? Extremely light trigger pulls that will discharge a marker when you set it on a table and cheater boards that ramp up.

With full auto allowed, they could then mandate a sane minimum trigger pull weight and max ROF, and both would easy to check. The ROF could be done both by a chrono judge before the game AND a ref LISTENING to the markers during the game.

The fact that the NPPL has to (and the PSP should) hire a computer genius to try to catch the cheater boards is insane.

People with entry level markers would be happy because they could actually compete with the high dollar tourney guns. That MAY drive more sales for the lower cost guns which could bring prices down all the way around.

In any case, you've got to admit that the way it is now with tourney ball, a majority of the teams may as well have F/A all ready.

Wow, this has to be the WORST idea I have ever heard, and every time it comes up, I can hear baby Jesus crying softly. Picture a tournament with only backmen. Is that really what you want? 20 guys shooting 2 cases apiece in 10 minutes? Nobody making long runs or nice moves, because they can't get through the hail of 35 bps continuous Halo fire? They have the hoppers, and they guns could technically fire that fast, so why not? The tournament as a whole would suffer if it became a shooting gallery.

If the NPPL picked up that rule, I'd quit, straight off. Us frontmen already get shot 10+ times every time we get out. No need to get unskilled morons shooting 2-3x faster. I know I would just LOVE walking off the field after being bonus balled 35 times instead of 10. But hey, "the balls were in the air already," Right?? That idea is already accepted, and would obviously start getting carried further.

And what of the ramifications for the rest of the sport? JT and DYE and all the rest would make a killing on their new lines of BODY ARMOR. Who wants to get railed on by that many balls? And so the walk-on players would stop coming, because it was too expensive, and the guys with the better guns could just go full-auto all over them. It doesnt exactly take skill to hold a trigger and sweep the field. ANY IDIOT CAN DO IT, AND WILL. If you want to be shot by a kid who is firing 35 bps the first time he goes out, because he is borrowing his cousin's gear, thats fine. I refuse to step on the field with people like that, and the majority of rec players will leave too. There goes your cheap paint and plethora of fields. It will be just like the olden days, where you can pay $.25 a ball. Won't full auto be fun then?

In addition, consider it a given that the insurance companies, and the public safety groups, and the government will come over and bend the paintball industry right over. Registering markers? Check. Age limits? Check. Banning in most areas? Check. Complete ruin of the sport I love? Check.

Full auto play, no matter which way you look at it, doesnot serve to further the sport. I sincerily doubt it will ever come into use in any major tournament series, and gladly so. I'd rather have a guy shooting his WAS'd angel at an inconsistant 22 bps than some guy holding down his trigger and just dumping pods at 35.

Just saying that their is no skill in tourney play at all is foolish. Of course there is, or we would never lose.
