From what i heard, China (I think) had its worst cotton crop ever which raised the price/demand of like polyester or something as a substitute. One of the chemicals to make that is also used in making paintballs. This $3 increase should be for just this year until things are back to normal next spring.
Correct me if I'm wrong, i can't remember all the details.

Its odd. The field I go to (Official Paintball Games of Texas) Has actually lowered thier prices a couple bucks. I do find that odd. I read this thread before-hand. Ans somehow neglected to ask about it. (there goes my edge at trying to get a job there. =\ ). Bit odd, no? They used to charge an even $70 for a case of bigball but now its like $68 (at the field).

I know Utah's Millennium Paintball isn't raizing prices, I would imagin that several others arn't going to. The increase is $2.00 per case(I order several hundred cases at a time so for smaller shops it might be more) so I don't imagine that there are any shops that can't aford to lose that much of the already substantial markup on paint. I can't speak for the whole industry, and from what I understand several proshops and fields will charge alot more than things are worth, so I don't know it might raise prices.

Props to the dealers that are fair!

I've never seen wholesale pricing on paint... but I know the markup must be extremely large since the internet pricing is normally $10-15 cheaper per case and even more if you buy in bulk. The cheapest case of paint at the field I go to in VA is $70 and it's the stuff they give 100 balls of to the walk-on renters. So... $70 for cheap paint and I can buy a good case of premiums for $50 online.

I love this sport.. but some pro-shops are just too greedy. Long story short, "All you fair priced dealers definitely have my respect!" Make your money, but don't pull a Microsoft on us and mark up your products 400%.

from what I've seen, fields can generally get cheap (cheap) paint at around 30-35, and better paint from 40 on up.

$2 - who cares... so it will cost me $4 more each weekend - I normally just run a tab at the field through the weekend, write a check at the end anyways.. and its funny the math always comes out in my favor when the owner adds it up - I guess its cause my weekly "contribution" is normally twice what others are at least in teh area :)
