This is for all you people who agree with teufelhunden:

What cracks me up is that if you liked something that the "great teufelhunden" had put on his "list of the RIGHT paintball gear" as something you should not get (imagine you actually like 14" barrels better, for example) then you could dispell his whole argument outright. But just because it happened that his preferences matched your own you (stupidly) thought "man, finally someone is talkin' some sense!" not realizing that your opinion is not the only one that exists.

Ahhh. My head is spinning from reading the first four posts.
          Such useless crap.

Hey, guess what. I use a drop, match the paint to the barrel on an open bolt gun, play with a 10 inch barrel, use CO2, and use a barrel other than what is recommended by that thread's author. My accuracy and rate off fire seem to be good, even excellent. Wait. My wrist is comfortable, too. However, after reading that I will follow all of his recommendations to the letter. [sarcasm]
Why should the thread's author be regarded as anything else than a noob who wants to impress people on the inernet?

          pbreview, pbnation, what's the difference?

Wahoo! 'Cept I use N2, dang finicky X-Valves. The noob thing was a little harsh though. Just once I would like to be able to play with my 5 inch drop (which balances my RT perfectly, by the way) with out someone coming up to me and saying "[whine] Why do you play with that stupid drop?! Ewww! [/whine]"

I'm definatly going to continue using my drop. I've used no drop, a huge drop, a short drop, and my current medium drop(I love it). Having a balanced marker decreases muscle strain in the arms from my expirience, so why not use them? My wrist doesn't get achey even after playing all day, so I think that everyone just has to find the correct length setup for them. Do you think that a person that is 6' 5" is going to find that a 5' 8" person's setup matches them correctly or vice versa, probably not. If you hop into a car that has been driven by someone else the mirrors aren't going to be setup right, there's an analogy for paintball. I can hop into your car and drive but I'm probably not going to like it.

While I agree with TH on the advantages of using a rail over a drop, I dont think it should be left up to that point. Perhaps you value a smaller-tighter profile (or hell, a bigger tank...) to ergonomics. Go for it... whatever. Cite whatever reason you want, really. I say it dont matter. I like a rail casue I can shoot faster and straighter.

Also, didnt TK prove somewhere that the best (most efficient) barrel was ~11inches unported?

I thought it was also proven that paint-to-barrel match had a positive effect on accuracy? Maybe I'm wrong...

Depends on which industry legend guy you read at the moment. Palmer believes otherwise.

I find it funny how many of you guys think. Many of you have played with a drop and a 4.3" barrel your entire paintball career, save probably your first few times out when you were more concerned with being a sniper than playing paintball. At least I know both sides of the argument. Balled for 4 years, had drop/no drop on the first few markers I used, on my Outkast I had a bigass PB bullet drop and on my mag I had a CP razor. Now I'm running a rail on my worrblade. I challenge you guys to try the other way for a few weeks of play. But nah, you all go ahead and call me and the people who agree with me [including the people who ball 6 days a week] closed minded and ignorant. However, most of us have come from the other side. Have you?

I've ran both extremes and everything inbetween:
Started with a Duckbill on a tippmann
Switched to a 7.5 in psychoballistics drop
Bought my mag, for which I used a Dropzone
Dropped the dropzone for a shocktech micro (2-inch angled) drop.
                            Switched to a CP rail.
Just for kicks, I tried varied medium drops, and other small drops.
I even tried a small drop put on backwards. (I liked it, but it was almost too long... :/ )

I like the rail best out of all those.

I'm kinda tempted to try one of those funky, backwards drops that angle the tank sharply upwards.

As far as barrels, I'm not sure what my stance is. I've always had a 1-piece (cause the barrel's usually the last thing I buy when building a setup, and I'm almost always out of money long before that point :o ), but I've given thought to a multibore kit because so many people swear by them.

                            Length-wise, I'm partial to ~14 in

and of course no one takes into account the position you play , personally usually being a front player I prefer a long drop, sure it may make my hopper stick up a little higher when I shoulder it , but I'm never shouldering it when i'm up front . If you are that close and trying to shoulder the gun to come out and make a shot then you're bringing out too much of your body with the marker . I have tried a no drop on my markers, I hated it . The only gun I can use without a drop would be anything with a space style frame and 45 ci air tank .

If you want to use a rail , a long drop , or even remote then that is your preference , one is not automatically better than the other and if you think so then just go back to pbnation where you belong .

                              Rant over.

Lol, front's needing long drops? Fronts need the most stable shooting platform they can get... they don't have the time to aim by volume. Drop does the opposite of that.

But you guys wouldn't know, you've never done anything different.
