    Maggers = 2nd class citizens

Little story from this weekend. Being that we were rained out Sunday.. I decided to make some calls to the local shops to see about picking up some parts and misc. goodies I've needed. I've been playing since 91' and owned MANY markers. I also have a pretty good relationship with all of the area shops and fields, as I am always buying from them.

    Here is my observation.

Whenever I inquire about parts or accessories for any of my Mags.. I get looked at like I have two heads. I hear stories about how they suck, or how one of them knows of one that never worked right,.. ect ect ect
(I always end up ordering from AGD or one of the guys online.)

After opening three hours later than the time posted on their website - I call one of the local stores looking for a $2 spring for my Angel LED, and a cup seal for my Cocker - OMG - "Oh yes sir, we have those in stock... and I can order the cup seal and have it here for you this Friday.. let me take your number...." And "BTW, what kind of Angel do you have? have you seen the (INSERT MARKER HERE)? It is AWESOME"

    It really p'd me off.

Oh well. Thankfully there is a place like AO where an oddball like myself can congregate with like-minded oddballs. :-)

    I'm not odd...

    I'm just not the same...

I get looked at funny when I old like a 5 year old cocker and all these other kids got their alias timmies and eblade cockers... then when I get in the 50 and wastem all they're like wtf? how could a cocker shooting 5bps do that?!

Today was my first day playing with my revenge, and I ding dang loved it, best shooting gun on the field by far, friend was having problems with his DM4, other with his 04 Viking, Eblade cockers and other timmies (even a naughty dogs (owned by mapp of ND) timmy was having problems) but not the revenge, put some diablo-blaze through it at the chronoy, matched the freak insert and went out playing for the first time in 9 months.

I really doubt I'll ever go electro, just because of the sheer amount of problems I see in half of them, If anything I'll just get a hAir-triggered mag when they come out

Mag owners aren't oddbals... we're the sharks in the sea of other paintball players, keeping everybody honest.

when i played yesterday, it was the first time any of the chrono refs had ever shot an RT mag. i found that odd, considering these people have been playing for 2-3 years.

No one says crap about mags. LocknLoad and AGD Pride are local teams and they tear the place up. Having agd only an hr or so away helps.

Every time I go into BPS (boston paintball) someone cracks wise about my mags, but after handleing/shooting them, all they say is "sweet". I like being the oddball marker owner, sure beats being another timmy or e-cocker owner.

Yeah, I know all about that. God forbid you need a part when you are at the field.

Not for nothing, but I blame a lot of this on AGD. Don't get me wrong, I love all of their stuff (and probably own most of it), but they really dropped the ball as far as P.R. goes. Here is a top-notch company, that makes a top-of-the-line product that is superior to 98% of anything else out there, yet most players think 'mags-suck'.

Ignorance? Yes, but I think AGD could have done a better job getting the word out, and watching the market place a little better. Marketing, Marketing, Marketing.

and if that fails, then you slap a Game-Boy in the grip and sell it with the slogan "Making dead-zone time fun"

I'm still not sute how I feel about the new strategey of eliminating the 'mag' moniker for future AGD guns. Sounds like an admission of defeat.

I always wondered how mags would sell comparitively to other guns if they was a full assortment of them and accesories hanging right next to them on the walls of paintball shops. X-mags, Deadly WInd bodies, ULE E-mags, RT Pros.. come'on, your telling me that these things woudln't sell?

Players around here aren't too bad. I dont have a mag YET, but my VSC phantom gets a lot of oohs and ahhs. Some people have a hard time understanding the stock class part, but NOBODY can deny how sleek and light the thing is. Wherever I go, I hype up the phantom, give people prices and places to buy.

Soon as a I get a mag I'll be doing the same thing.

While electros are pretty much the norm now, I still get respect playing with a pump or my 98 custom.

I LIKE "odd". That's why I play with a bright purple RT Pro ULE, and took my screen name from another "odd" movie, "Tank Girl". Besides, it gives the rest of my fellow players someone to target on during the games.

i've heard all kinds of stories about different shops doin that
but i found a little way to not really get back at them, but rather than to make them think.

                        example....

walk into a shop: hey, do you have such and such for a mag....? you get the reply...no we dont stock mags much....and before he can plug his punchline...i always interupt with...yeah..i know, mags dont really break down that often..i can understand you dont have parts for it...

of course local shops hate mags...
they dont profit enough to carry it. once you buy a reliable mag, the only reason you go back to the shop is for paintball and KC lube.

for them to fix it..? all i need is a quarter and a hex wrench...worst case scenerio...a toothpick for the o rings

"You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care."-AGD

Around here mags have a decent name. The owner of the local proshop has a nice ULE custom and the owner of the local field has used an old school RT for ages (he shoots an X-mag now) so they have helped the cause.

All i get around here is positive feed back. I guess I'm an ambassador when i take out a few of the newbs at my local field they always want to find out what that cool gun is. I don't think the Stickered look hurts either. and most cocker or timmy owners are either newbs or sloppy players. Never has anyone downed my Mag or Mag's atleast within earshot of me. And the proshop was selling a new Mag a few weeks ago it had the purple splash anno body kit on it. Which is a welcome change from their ridiculously priced 'Mags, 'Cockers, and Spyders.

Only ONE shop outta 10 around my area in LA carries Mag parts. No one even has Mag barrels anymore. Kinda sad. Everyone around here is ignorant and just talks trash about Mags.
