When you have the GOOD STUFF on your marker already why do you need upgrades? This is why I bought Four mags. The ONLY Other marker I would ever buy would be a Palmer Blazer and how many of those do you see? Both top of the line Markers, reliable, very well made and no or little after market support. BECAUSE, it is hard to improve on the BEST.
Second-Class I think not, I have the equailivalent of the HUMMER in my hands while everyone else has H2s.:P

        Consumable Parts

I think the main problem is that there aren't enough consumable parts in a mag.
        Let me explain:

Stores don't make much money on the guns because it's a big ticket item. People don't buy them very often.

Stores make money on consumables like O-rings or any small part that people can replace themselves and then mess up so they bring the guns back into the store and get more. Items like LPRs, Rams, 4-ways... that are sub $100 and people like to replace because they like the percieved(sp?) advantage that they get by 'upgrading'.

Now mags...I bought a RT O-ring kit NEW from a store a couple of weeks ago that still had the wire nubbins...how long have the plastic nubbins been out? The only consumables I buy on a regular basis is paint. All the 'aftermarket' parts aren't any better than AGD stuff so there's nothing really to upgrade/update/take care of. Oil - air - repeat.

So...the stores don't make enough money on the guns/accessories. So...they don't carry them.

PS - I have the RT O-ring kit for emergencies...still not opened...I don't expect to open it unless I mess something up...

PSS - Tom...next time design something that we'll need to replace parts on every few cases of paint
        I'm not wearing any pants

Second-class marker? A true story: a guy walks into the shop and wants to buy a paintgun. He hasn't played very long, yet decides that he doesn't want a Spyder because they're "cheesy". He doesn't want a Pirahna because he hasn't seen anyone actively using one. None of the local shops actively carries Automags, so he doesn't even consider them. He does, however, take the advice of the clerk and looks at several Intimidators, Matrixes, and Autocockers. He ends up buying an Autococker.
Moral of the story: do some research on the stuff you want to buy. If your local vendor doesn't have something you want, order it from the Internet. Who knows, maybe the guy would've bought an Automag if it was physically available. Autocockers aren't bad, but I wonder if he REALLY wanted one in the first place. Automags aren't very popular, and I don't know why, but that's OK. It's all about showing up to play.

In the end, popularity doesn't matter cuz us 'Mag owners know that Level 10 X-Valves are the best. We don't need anti-chop eyes and batteries to shoot super fast.

I saw a ULE Emag there about 3 months ago, that's been it as far as mags... I play there sometimes, kinda far for me though (hour and a half) since there are 4 other fields within 15 minutes of me... That place is one of my favorites though...

Well, I was very lucky to stumble on to Outdoor Adventures back in 1992. I was playing with a bushmaster pump back then & upgraded to a powerfeed Mag in 1993. Since then, the OA guys have been great about supporting the marker, tuning it whenever I needed it (mostly right after I upgraded to the X-Valve & Lvl 10).

Its great to know that if I ever needed a part or had a problem, the techs would be able to handle it. I may sound a bit biased (as a team we call OA our home), but seriously, anyone in MD that needs Mag work done should check out their store in Arbutus first - Rob there at the store can fix anything.

I know what you mean about being thought of as "second-class." I started playing about ten years ago when tournaments were held in the woods and speedball was something you did at the end of the day to quickly get rid of your remaining paint. Back then (keep in mind I'm 23, so talking nostalgia is a little weird for me) there were two high-end guns, the cocker and the mag. Now I get questions about what my micromag is, whether it's an electro or not, etc. from kids, and i mean KIDS, shooting timmeis, shockers, e-blades, and even DM4's. Of course, I usually get asked after I manage to bunker one of them

If anyone ever gives you lip about your gun, here's what I'd say: Yes, it's a mag. It hardly ever breaks down, is light (assuming it's ULE'd), shoots straight, and shoots fast. Also, this is the 4th one I've owned, and I own another one.
Primary: Black Ule Emag, Rogue Wingless Rail, X-Valve, CCM No-Rise, CP Rail Drop / on/off, Egg, 14" CP two piece, 70ci (peanut) dye throttle.

For sale: Micromag RT, Intelliframe, Egg, 12" Dye Stainless, Kapp Foregrip, 88ci Smart Parts Max-Flo 4500psi.

At my field I only had seen 2 mags... When I first got a marker I didn't considered them because I do not knew them. So I choosed a spyder e-99. After that I wanted to upgrade but I still do not knew the mags so I got a e-cocker. I realized it was too much for me and I found this forum. Both of these made up my mind to choose a mag. I don't know how the peoples at my field will look at me when I'll come with a mag but I will show them tha a mag is no more a blender.

Me and my old skool buddies like showing up at the local fields to show off our mags. After spending the 90's going from 'mags (we won with them), to shocker, to another shocker....and now back to 68 automag......I'm sticking with 'mags forever.

newb's are just ignorant.....and most of them will be out of the sport within 2 years anyway. I wonder, though....if they shot 'mags and saw the reliability of these markers.....would they stay?

I think they keep chasing the high $$ markers, thinking that a DM4 or 'timmy will make their game better. We'll just keep shooting them out with the 'mags.

I do think it's kinda retro what SP has done with the look of the new shockers......gosh, they look like mags. Can ya carve a sluggo body to look just like a shocker????

I was on PBN or something and somene, maybe me, posted a pic of a classic mag, and some kid says "WOW! It looks just like a shocker!!!"

I'm only 29, but it made me feel kinda old, but then again, a lot of things kids say do that to me. :P

I went through a bunch of markers and so far I have o say AKA, ICD, and AGD are good ways to go.
I now have an '04 Shocker, probably because it looks like my 68 classic mag (not the other way around :P ) , and because its a bunch cheaper than an XMag, but I think I may start using the 68 classic a lot more.

I just may have to start my own personal movement to push the Mag on everyone!
I think I may have converted my friend to a mag, and hes only played once, and never seen a mag yet!
