Personally I'm getting sick of woods vs airball threads. I think all these forms of threads should be deleted, what purpose do they serve? It almost always turns into a flame war and a bunch of people get pissed. It doesn't change anyones mind, if anything it pushes them deeper into there opinion.

Bottom line to whole arguement ... Woodsball Vs. Speedball is just the same crap stirred yet again into the same ole CA is the End of paintball ... Semi's are the end of paintball.... Mag's vs. Cockers... Open Bolt vs Closed Bolt... Take your pick ...

The only way Paintball the sport is going to die is if people stop playing over pointless arugements like this...

The only thing in all my years of paintball I have seen truly change is the general attitue of players changing from players all being friends to all being only competitors or teammates...

And I hate to see this ... I remember when paintball was more about fun and about promoting your sport... driving 3 or 4 hours to find a game, a part, get paint, get a fill .... and you were damn happy about it... you spent time promoting the game in what ever facet you could and were just happy that you might of been able to get one more person to play .... and you didn't care how, when, or with what they played...

instead now I see mostly ranting and complaing about who and what is better and who should lead our sport into the futre and what the future should like the same bunch of fantsy following over hyped pre-teens flammers we like to complain about.... even with now with the sport growing faster than ever, new fields and new shops opening every day, and paintball as a whole much better off than it was 1, 5, 10 years ago ... its just more people slinging mud... and being un happy with each other instead of enjoying it...

If you want to play speedball, play speedball... If you want to play woodsball, Play woodsball... but that doesn't give you the right to bash for flame one guy or another for helping your sport grow...

If you want to rant and flame... take it to something usefull ... Better Safety, Standard Rules, Better Reffing, Anti Wipeing, One Ball per One Pull, Teaching the new kids instead of bonus balling the newbs off the field, cheating, and just Bettering the overall image of paintball, Showing this game is not war and guns or that paintball guns are not mainly used by deliquents that like to shoot up what ever... rant and flame about things that matter and can make a difference...

Bottom line as I see it is Speedball ( Tournyball) Vs. Woodsball ( Recball ) should be as the same as Major Leauge Baseball vs. Beer Leauge Softball...

It is just a bunch of guys playing very similar games that both can be fun and competitive, have their own pro's and con's... but the players don't bash or flame each other over what is better... it's just differnt ... There is no right or wrong ... just like 99% of paintball arguments...

I like vance's post. he makes a very good point. the problems with paintball have nothing to do with what style of play you like, or somebody else likes. now this is nothing against tyger's original post, where he makes some valid points about the sport, and society in general.

I'm not a tournament player. I'm not a woods player either. I like to be able to play all varieties of paintball. that's a good thing.I play at the local indoor field, it's a cave, but not alot of people get that oppurtunity.


I think tournaments should be standardized. strictly enforced, and reffed by proffesionals.
now it's not really possible on the lower level, entry tounaments, but it sure would be nice. kids grow up playing and learning the values of team sports properly, or at least as prpoerly as any other team sport. outsiders will see never see the sport as "legitimate" without proper enforcement of rules.

what kind of sports do the manufacturers and distributors have such control over?


I guess none of this is new. I can't help but feel a bit sad about the way things are in society these days. I know we are better off now than we have been, but I don't like the wal-mart world of marketing and hype that we have created/accepted. In society, we shop ourselves right out of jobs, buying products from a giant, mega-mart, instead of a local store, because they are 20 cents cheaper. In paintball people buy whatever is hyped, or spoon-fed to them. we accept the desires of the giant paintball companies, take away the restrictions on bps, shot buffering? trigger bounce? whatever can be done to break the rules, sure go right ahead. they will be happy to sell you all of it. sportsmanship? talent? skill? FUN?.....uh.....can't make money off that, can't be bought,....


I guess that's one of the reasons why I like to make my own junk, instead of buying somebody else's.

I read this because it was the first (and a new) sticky.

After reading it, I cam to the conclusion that I could continue my woodsball vs new style rants, because what I have been ranting about (how absolutely atrocious the current game and (most of) its players are compared to the real game of paintball) is NOT defined in the 'knock it off' thread.

Shows how much you know. Woodsball is not recball is not beer league softball. Woodsball as in - the FIRST tournaments ever held, as in, the way tournaments were played from 1982 through 1998, as in, the events where ALL of the 'pro' players who have game got their education.

Now we're playing on simplified fields, with simplified guns operated by simple players and some of you think that the answer is standardizing rules and employing professional referees?

The answer is to require some level of skill, experience and intelligence on the field in order to have success; responsibility and professionalism will follow if you prevent the barbarians from participating...

I think all these threads should be deleted. What is there purpose? Just a bunch of people talking and not doing anything about the problem. I don't see a problem but it seems a lot of people around here have sticks up there butts. Paintball is fun for me. Who cares if woodballers and airballers don't get along, you play in your woods and I'll play in my inflatable bunkers. Maybe every once in a while I'll wander into the woods and you onto an airball field, whatever. Why are so many people getting their panties in a bunch? I guess I just don't understand. I'm hearing that tourney players don't give respect to woods, but what I'm seeing is woodballers dissing on tourney saying they have no skil(BS).
