Dry fireing?

Im not trying to spam the forum by doing this but I think i figured out why im waisting gas so fast when i dry fire, iv herd for every 1 dry fire its 4 paintballs going out the gun is this true? i guess whan im trying to say is for every 1 dryfire its really takeing the gas of 4 paintballs being shot i hope you get when im saying. so is this true or not? but right now i think agd needs to come out with lvl13 to stop gas cunsumption. ps. cant wait

I couldn't read all of that, but you are right. Dryfiring wastes way more air than just playing/shooting paint.

I dryfire about 30 times at the beginning of the day to cycle oil thru my Mags, and that's it. The rest of my air gets paint

Well, i dont see how this is true, look, when the marker is set to the specific FPS, then it uses the same amount of gas each firing cycle to propel a ball down the barrel. Now, that same amount of gas is used in a dry fire. just with out the ball being propelled down the barrel.

Physically speaking the same volume of air, cannot be changed whether there is a ball in the chamber or not.

When the gun fires a ball, the ball creates back pressure which leaves some residual pressure in the valve. When you dry fire, there is no back pressure so all that extra back pressure is wasted.

yep the entire chamber gets dumped when dryfiring. When shooting a pb the backpressure keeps residual air in the chamber

I talked to an AKA tech, and they said basically what you guys have said. This is why they recommend turning the bolt around backwards on Vikings if you're dry firing it, then it uses even less air than when you're firing paint (which is next to nothing to start with :) ) This is only with the Viking though, it may work with other guns but I don't recommend you try it, as guns running on higher pressure may damage their internals by having all that pressure forced back into the gun. And of course, the amount of air used will vary depending on the type of gun, rate of fire, and velocity setting.

Ok, this might not be the brightest of ideas but if since the obvious reason you use more air when dry firing is because there is no ball to stop al the air in the chamber from being used, what if you just shove a sock in your barrel?

This wouldnt work with a matrix then right? Doesn't the matrix seal off the valve chamber when it fires?

well i realize some residual back pressure is kept in the valve, but i cannot see how it can effect that much.
