AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I haven't had a chance to read this thread all the way through, but have you thought of using something like Coppermine to handle the gallery and such? It has automatic thumbnail generation and photo resizing, user-uploads (saves you the trouble of messing with stuff), album and category separation, and a whole crap-load of other great features. It runs with a php frontend off of a mysql database.
It seems that it'd save you a bunch of trouble with organizing the pictures. I'm fairly sure it supports moderated picture uploads so you could have people send you the pics and then you'd just have to "ok" them to get them into the gallery.
Chris,
Dontl let my tasty site fool you. You are seeing the pinnical of my understanding. I know there are all those nifty little background apps for all sorts of cool things but:
1- I haven't a clue what they are, where they are, and how much people want for them.
2- I am not going to try and have the smae thing that Jaloo.com has. He offers a great service for free and for ANYONE. I on the other hand, am going to be selective and only put up what I think are good enough pictures of markers I am happy to see.
So I am not sure... I get a large number of people who totally dont read what I am looking for and send me little 640x480 images and they are all fuzzy and poor lightings. I might spend as much time deleting those posts as I do now cleaning the images up and making them look like a million bucs right now.

Oh, Okay. Well coppermine is free, it's open-source and such. If you're ever looking to find out more about it, the information is available here: http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/
small semi/ related note. I redid the old 4.0 video testing video. I added a song I felt fit the edning better and fixed the into section. It's still the same video but if a few of you want to look at it I always like feedback.
