I think the Alias is plenty fast, but I just got my DM4 in, and the construction quality of the DM4 is definately higher than the Bob Long stuff. I havent hooked it up to air, so I cant comment on the speed, but Im sure it will be plenty fast. As far as maintenance, there is one moving part, and its very simple to take it out and inspect it. Just from appearances, the build quality appears to be on par with the AKA guns I've owned.

And remember, hype can't overcome a crappy product. Almost any gun at the higher levels is going to perform comparably, so choose what you prefer, be that an alias, viking, DM4, shocker, whatever. For me, its a DM4 and excalibur right now

You stole what I was just about to say.....The QC on the DM4 and the support dye gives it are amazing, they stand by the gun 100 %. I guess us NorCal guys think alike.

I used to hate timmies, and praise trix's/DM4's until I got my Naughty Dogs..

I love the feel of it, it's freaking fast, I don't notice any outrageous kick, infact the only reason I think people think it has so much more kick than a DM4 is because it's louder, it really doesn't have that much kick.. The grip frames is 10X better on 2k4 timmies.. Trust me.. If you've played with both.. Just try switching hands with a DM4 and then with an Alias, it is waaay easier.. Both are super easy to maintain (IMO), timmy has better efficiency..

Honestly though, it's all personal preference.. I hate the feel of DM4's compared to my Naughty Dogs now.. And the truth is I only got the dogs to trade it for a DM4, but I fell in love.. But you can deffinetly notice a size difference.. Both are roughly the same weight with a halo and tank (ND is a bit lighter, but not alot) but the ND is just so much smaller it seems.. Plus I can manouver that puppy in any situation, with the DM4 I have a tough time hanging onto the stubby gripframe.

        Both are awsome guns though..

It's like what JKW said.. The DM4 is like an elegant smooth gun.. While the Timmy is like a rugged killing machine.

It's like that with everything, look at Nike, Etnies, GAP, AE, A&F, McDonalds.

I'll never live that one down. I got an offer I couldn't refuse, and I figured it was worth a try. Plus, I always have my Excalibur :) I can't live without at least one AKA gun.

Thanks everyone. Just thought I was going crazy. I played a couple games with a DM4 a few months back and didn't think it was that great. Good but not as great as everyone made it sound. I was thinking about buying one until I got an alias and I just wondered why 9 out of 10 people thought that they were "the gun". I am in no way flaming the DM4, but it is really not as great as some may make it sound. I forgot who said it, but the comparison of the DM4 being a finesse boxer and the alias being a street fighter ready to pull a knife and cut your throat. That totally nailed it on the head.

Same folks saying Dm4's are the best guns now probably are the same folks that said Dye Boomsticks were the best barrels a couple years ago...Feel the hype :)

If someone tells me " well yeah the DM4 is the best gun for ME and my tastes and style of play", I can respect that, but when I hear empirical statements that the DM4 is the best gun period it makes me wonder if they are just trying to convince themselves that their $1200.00 was wisely spent.

like most ppl said, dm4's are "the gun" because the matrix was a very good gun now its smaller lighter and faster, and dye makes such high quality products is another reason why every1 buys them, i would prefer to have a timmy also, they look better and i dont really notice kick in the middle of a game

also i have a bko, and i use it against timmys, shockers, imps, dm4's, angels, eblades, trixes, a freestyle, and a cyborg, and i hold my own just fine, i have yet to be intimidated or anything else by my gun being lower end, and its completely stock right now

With the same amount of money put into them as you would have spent on a high end gun you can get them close to the same level. Just with more problems and some non matching parts.

In my experience, you pick what marker you feel most comfortable with, and how well it suits your playing style. Believe it or not someone might prefer a less expensive gun. I dont see anything wrong with making up your own mind while ignoring the bleating of the dm4 sheep.

2 of my friends have DM4s and I used one for 3 or so games, and yes Ill be the first to admit it shoots very well and is a great gun. But there is no way I could honestly say its the best gun out there cause everyone has different preferences.
