    Mission Mask Fan: Complete (pics)

A friend on mine (scuby) and I decided we wanted fans on our masks...So we did it:
    BAM!

First pic is my buddy Igotu from the forums
The second pic is his mask
The third pic is my mask
And I'm working on getting a fourth of me with my mask on, but the floppy is having errors.
They're pretty sweet... On/off switches, twist tie mounting system - the works.

How well does it work? It seems like it doesnt get much air into the eye "area" as other fans. Also, how quiet is it?
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

Oh, when it's on you can definatly tell. From testing it ventalates well and feels really good on the face. We'll see how it performs during play.

let see, I forgot about noise.
They're really quiet, you can barely tell that they are running.
As for the red mask - that's the proto I was complaining about it my other thread, hopefully this remedies the problem. And about the rain, well I plan on wearing my visor, but I might just remove it temporarally, they're held on with twist ties.

I've used a setup like that before and it was pretty nice. You could really tell when the fan was on and it was very quiet, its cheaper than buying a fan and works just as good. As far as it getting wet I'm not sure but I would assume it would do as any other electronic and crap out.

Yeah, I took a look at the price tag on the proto fan and was like whoah **** that, I'm making my own.

it works my buddy chris did the same thing with a pc fan and parts form radio shack, I showed him my jt vortex fan, that is where he got the idea. His ghetto fan is quieter than my jt!!! vents pretty well,I would def recommend a visor, he has a visor on his set up. He took a shot to the visor had to use q tips to un-gunk the pc fan.....still worked though.

When I did this mod on my old JT mask I used two AA batteries in one of those little dual AA holders you can get at Radio Shack.

The fan ran fine and the batteries never got hot as far as I remember. Of course I only turned the fan on to clear my glasses then turned it off again.

THe V-Force has "cleared" up all my fogging issues now though. BAD PUN ALERT!

I've been running a PC fan on my mask for the last 4yrs.
It has worked wonderfully for me.
I have never had my 9v ever get hot.

the heating up probably = u have power and ground touching each other somewhere near the battery, probably at your 9v connection or something, cause the battery should not heat up otherwise. another possibility is the wire you used it too small but that would result in wire heating up and melting somewhere, not the battery heating up....

another good addition is a Toggle switch(not sure if you added one), purchaseable at radioshack. they usually come with three prongs sticking out the bottom, solder the power from teh battery to one of the outside prongs, and then solder from the fan to the switch to the middle prong, and there ya go, a fan you can switch on and off rather than having to disconnect the battery each time.

We did use switches and I'll tell you how we wired them, incase we did it wrong.

We took the black wires and soldered them to the outside prong and put one red on the middle and one red on the outside. Is this wrong?
