      We've got it blowing air into the mask, eventually I'm going to get another and have it blowing air out and I think scuby wants to do the same.

          what happens when your hair gets cought in the fan? (i have shaggy, long-ish hair, so would be problem for me, mabey not you)

                Scrumpy, yes, the ground (black wire) should not be connected to the switch at all, the switch controlls power on/off this could possibly be what is causing the battery to heat up... make the ground (black) one long connection directly to the fan, the power (red) is where the switch comes into play, connect the end from the 9v to one of the outside prongs, and the end from the fan to the middle prong... the way you have it is most likely what is causing the problem and is also bad on the switch and fan motor as well, also drains battery like crazy even when the switch is off and nothing is running...
