Double strapping it right near the threads (where the tip and the back meet) is the safest method. CAreful near the tip around the porting holes, you can twist it and break through the barrel.

what i do, i run the back piece only under hot water (the part with the threading on the inside) and that heats it up, making it expand, and comes off with a little force.

Actually, heat makes things contract, cold makes them expand.

Best bet is just to use two strap wrenches. Clean the straps and the barrel with rubbing alcohol if needed first.
