A lot of the more serious injuries in paintball are related to eye trauma from improper eye protection. But just as any sport there are always other injuries that can be caused by playing paintball that are not related to the paintballs/markers themselves. For the most part paintballs only cause welts and contusions, but from experience and reading experiences of others taking hits to the head or neck region can cause mild concussions and thats not always a good thing
(I have not had one but a friend of mine did) And I am sure if you get hit in the right spot there is always a chance that something serious could occur internally or damage a nerve or something you never know really
