are silencers allowed in PB? i've been looking for a definite answer around the place, and i've found nothing yet. only some iffy data that points in allowed and not allowed. another thing, what specifically defines a silencer other than reducing sound? does it have to be in the front of the barrel? or does the term silencer apply to anything that deadens noise along any portion of the barrel?
silencers allowed or not?

lol no, i just had an idea wen dad was driving me home, silencers are generally mounted on the front, and according to some place i read it from, illegal as long as its interchangeable with firearms or appears to be. so what if its designed to fit around the middle or near front? a barrel ported early and have that area covered with a soft non-porous material would absorb sound like a car muffler. since its non-porous, any broken paint would be wiped off easily. (i think i got this when a neon with a huge muffler drove in front of us...) i just needed some clarification on the silencer laws.
also, i have 2 backyards on the left, one behind, and one to the right of ours (i live near a corner on the street)i dont think firing around the backyard is going to be well recievedLast edited by Rokudon; 10-27-2004, 07:53 PM.Comment

*edit* i reread that thing a few times, i understand wat ur saying now...stil not trying to get one tho, its an idea based off a car muffler (FINALY)Originally posted by AGDlovereh ya i don't think your going to be able to get one because they are illeagle by government so i wouldn't tempt the gov. just my 2cents
ok i should clear this up... get an unported stock barrel, smoothbore. drill lines of port salong the MIDDLE or near the tip of the barrel. wrap the ported area up in a soft but water/paint repelling material. voila, silencer/high flow car exaust muffler. (wow 10 posts in 30 mins...)Comment

exaaactly! does it still fall under "silencer" though?
*edit* i seriously need to read other people's posts more clearly... ESP kevmaster....
does a PB barrel with a soft covering count as easily modifiable? or as long as it is a one piece thing with a gun is it immune to that rule? and besides, its not exactly easily modifiable, as you are either getting something new and spending some time to make it, or buying a barrel that comes like this (overcomes efficiency thing from too much porting and keeps noise down)Last edited by Rokudon; 10-27-2004, 07:56 PM.Comment

or you could make one, and not post online, and tell the little kids add your field it adds 30 feet of range, and makes it louder......you get it

I wouldnt think that "silencers" are illeagle... the government will most likly not come barging through your door at night dragging you out into the street because you had a supressor on your paintball marker.
a silencer silences something... that task is nearly impossible with any mechanical device; thus it would be called a supressor...
and I believe the legal term is a "barrel extension"... when used in paintball seeing as of how truthfully it does little for the noise... and if it does its an utterly horrible waste of gas... (your marker will be very unefficient)

A paintball gun isn't defined as a firearm anywhere-- therefore, I believe you can 'silence' it.SwallowBleach: It's good for you.
