AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
actually all shockers do now come with an HE bolt. i dont know what serial # this begins with, but if you buy an 04 you will probably get HE. as for which one, i would definately say shocker. i have owned both an emag and currently own a 03 Nasty Shocker and wouldnt trade it for anything. i absolutely love it, its compact, light, and rips. i found the emags to be very bulky and slow and just hated the on/off pin among other things (efficiency was a biggy). but i would HANDS DOWN say go for the shocker. all of the problems that these people have been talking about sound like user error. if your reg is having problems, strip it down, replace bad o-rings and re-grease. if its that big of a concern, just slap a CP reg on there. go for the shocker 100%.
i like pb, you got the shocker already? sorry for butting in.
Yep.

The majority of problems with these guns is user error. If you don't know how to maintain it it will brake down, they have to be maintained properly. adt501, I'm not saying this is this case with you, I'm just saying that it seems to be the case most of the time.
the first shocker i SENT into smart parts was for the solenoid leaking. it came back still leaking
the second shocker i bought i aired up out of the box to have it leaking......which i tore apart the the bolt to find the broken bumper....and like i said, the part didnt even have a part number for and i had a great deal of time describing to smart parts what part it was....
i tore apart the gun in front of 2 smart parts certified techs who were just as pissed off as i was that i would be sent a gun in this condition
when my first shocker came leaking and i called smart parts, they did not have a tech on their staff that could fix the gun
so, not user error
more like, manufacturing error. and service error. two reasons i now boycott SP products. i used nothing but smart parts for a long time, but after having these problems i decided to switch to someone who could make a quality product and back it up. nothing to do with legality issues, ether

Hmmm......if you had read my post...... I said that I wasn't applying this to you, but to most problems. Obviously you got extremely unlucky and ended up with two bad guns.

a shocker tech and also YDNA (a paintball GENIUS) have recently said that solenoid leaks are usually do to a lack of grease on the bolt. soooo im going to stick by my user error theory... but hey i could be wrong. dont get mad about this (and i know you will, because everyone always gets offended when someone says that they are wrong whether they are or arent)
YDNA from PBN? i wouldnt call that guy a genious, merely a struggling college student who works on shockers to pay his bills. frankly, i wouldnt even send in my toaster to have him fix it

and im not mad. ive just had like every paintball gun made in the last couple of years worth having, and i know what works and what dosent. simple as that

you can get a WAS'd and ACE'd 03 or 04 vike for 800 preety easy. etc etc
No no no. None of us like the feel of those markers, no matter how good they otherwise are. This includes most electros with a high bore axis. It's shocker, mag, ICD frestyle or some other similar marker I haven't thought of. Possibly turtled minicocker.
At this point I think I'll steer him toward a shocker (WITH vision).
Tell your buddy to email me. I could build him something that will pee all over that shocker! No contest.
I don't doubt it, I love mags to death, and think the easy warpability, relibility, lx, and the fact that the whole team would be on cocker barrels is really nice. But at the same price?

Solenoid leaks can also come from not cleaning and not lubing the solenoid spool.

I have now lost respect for you. I would trust Ydna more than SP with my Shocker. If I can't fix a problem then it goes to him. He knows more about the operation of paintball guns(among many other things) than 99% of the paintball playing population.

sorry you lost respect. if you had any to begin with, thats your mistake

i would get in order:
1st Shocker vision
2nd emag
3rd non-vision
the shocker is pretty idiot proof, and theres not much to tamper with besides the dwells and the on off switch. alot of the stories you hear are just bais bs, that i believed untill i bought a shocker myself.
i love it, no chops, shoots like a matrix, but with the weight of a timmy, but the compactness of a mag....
Shocker x10. Emags are bulky and heavy while shockers aren't. They are so much easier to play with. The lightness and compactness makes it easy for it to switch hands.
