    a Fenix one hacksaw later

well, its about time i post this...
a while ago one of my friends hit his cocking pin against a tree in a game, and it bent, and gouged a hole in the back of his marker while shooting. he tried to straiten out the pin, and it snapped, leaving him with no way to cock his gun except with an allen wrench. about a week before that i had cut away the back end of an old spyder that i had to see if it would work and what effect it would have, and i had shown him that and he ended up getting me to work on his gun. i ended up taking a hack saw, file, grinder, and a lot of sandpaper and polish to it, and this is what came out. i cut away enough of the body so that he can cock the gun by grabbing the bolt directly, and also cut away the gouge that the cocking pin put in the body, and ended up removing the ugly lines on the side of the marker. i know that it would probably end up looking better if i had sanded and polished the whole body, but im not that good of a friend . so anyway, heres the pics, tell me what you think:

Tom was the last of a now extinct breed, a breed of players who build a community, a breed of owners who gave to the sport never taking more than what they deserved. I hope to see you at the feild again some day....

very cool regardless, numbnuts. Spyders are great markers in their price range, and it's comments like that which bring AO down to the level of PBNation. Think it through next time, okay?

Listen, before you start slinging insults, the Spyder is a piece of junk. They are mass produced, Kingman believes in quantity over quality. If you like that type of gun, by a Piranha. The only thing with Spyders is they take the same gun, change the color, add a few extra fairly useless parts, and charge $100 extra. After 14 years in the game, I have learned a thing or two.

obviously, after fourteen "years in the game," you've learned how to be a complete a$$hole... good job for you.

without Kingman USA, so many of the people that have grown the sport of paintball today would never have gotten involved "in the game" to begin with, due to the Spyder line of marker's reasonable price points, decent quality, and with the proper maintenance and care, longevity, durability, and reliability that rivals most other brands on the market.

as the airsmith for a popular local chain of paintball stores in Detroit, I've seen over a thousand markers come through my facility for repair, and in almost every circumstance, the Spyder models that are experiencing issues are easily repaired with a replaced o-ring or two and some lube. Not only that, but poorly maintained Spyders (and Piranhas, and any other major-name openbolt stackedtube blowback for that matter) have a tendency to outlive "higher-end" markers that are similarily abused. They are an excellent choice for beginning players, those who like to experiment with performance upgrades, and anyone who wants a marker in their gearbag that they don't have to "worry about". In fact, I currently have a nicely tricked out 2K4 Spyder Imagine chillin in the marker portion of my Mantis Thorax2, and of all the markers in my collection, it is the LEAST prone to "equipment failure" at the field in all types of weather and environmental conditions. So I'm never OUT of "the game."

To prevent myself from getting even more verbose about the necessity of the Kingman Spyder line in our sport, I'm gonna end this here. For now. and now, a dancing banana.
