I quite like the Lions with the peaks... It's almost as if they are guarding a gate or something.

With lions that small they would pretty much just look engraved.

How did you get the lions? Did you map them from somewhere else or do them by hand? Either way I appreciate the time you put into it.

how about a AGD slightly above and between the Lions? it Might be nice. Or is that to busy?

the lions were modeled off of the AGD logo, but i did them by hand in MS paint, thus no blending...To my knowledge, very few gun manufacturers put more than a bubble or a small painted on name, to mill AGD into the body, I would think it would be fairly small, too large would be tacky.

footemps, i wanted the rear lion to back up to the end of the body such that it would be putting it's paws up to the vertical edge at the end of the body, to give it that "guarding a gate" feel, as manike put it. I'm curious as to why you chose to edit the particular pic you did, and not the latest one.

I'd like to hear from someone who is in on the X-treme milling on whether a design such as this would be feasible, if it was done correctly i think it would look quite nice, or a variation of it at least (maybe extend the body to the length of a normal classic body such that the lion's paw is just touching where the valve widens)

          Kamikase,

That is very possible to do. It does depend on how you want it though as to how easy and how quick.

If you wanted it just like an engraving so in effect the tool cuts where you have lines, then that is easy and wouldn't take too long.

If you wanted it more like a 3D images such that for instance it's mane stuck our and the body bulged in and out etc then that would be harder and you would need a set of surfaces or stl which modelled such features. As a 3d image it would require small tools cutting small amounts of material and taking quite a long time to get a decent form. A bigger version may actually be easier and quicker!

I know the lion needed to be guarding the back but I'm gonna chop it off to a certain extent... I'm just looking for some good milling and cut off points.

I think the lions should be a lot smaller, or instead of engraving AGD just use a small AGD logo with the lion.
Oh and do something cool at the end so the valve is kind of exposed.

Do we have to mill more stuff off? I think my mag should have more stuff on it. Sometimes more is actually more... actually technically all the time but I'm not getting into somantics. Oh wait I already did. I know! Rip off that new angel sight rail, but with lions instead of wings.

The goal is to make the gun lighter and prettier... not heavier...

i really don't see what else could be done to that latest pic to make it look any better without making it look cluttered, or too "busy"...

any suggestions? i'm going for elegant curves here as an overall scheme, not blunt curves and sharp edges

Try carving the touched up body I made... It should look smoother all around. It is less cluttered than your other ones.
