    Best Pump on the Planet

    For all you pump shooters:

What in your mind is the best pump out there? I like the Phantoms and have shot them before, but what are the others like?

          best pump?

A few of us play pump, against auto's most of the time. We have action markers, sniper ones and twos, phantoms, that tipman thing and automag pumps. We like collecting guns, but what we like best are the automag pumps. We started by playing with pumps to be better shooters, now we can not stop playing with them, the only time we bring out the auto's is when we get tired or people are wiping. What would work for some one first getting into pump play, I would think they are all good, it is just what works for you. The only one I would not recommend is the action marker, we have had a lot of problems with them. We got ours at the first Shatner shin dig, when they had that five man tournement, that is another story. If you can build your own automag pump, that would be good, if you can get the parts. The sniper ones and twos are good all around guns, the phantoms are light and fast good for stock class. One of our guys have a Chipley, he likes it alot. Pump play is not for the faint of heart, but if you stick to it,it will make you a better player, good luck....

I like my VSC phantom quite a bit...

But I can't really vouch for any other pumps as I haven't shot anything but mine.

I'd REALLY love to try a buzzard and a Lapco Grey Ghost (SC)... I'm extremely tempted to buy one since Lapco is producing them again.

Im a tinker freak and VERY rarely does a gun stay factory stock and set for long.. but my Chipley j2 the only thing I ever change on it are barrel bore sizes and drops

I'm a phantom guy.. My bro loves sterlings, my buddy chang made a custom AIM eagle CCM crossbreed that has become a legend in our neck of the woods. Cant really say which ones the best. I feel that phantoms are the best bang for the buck. But I have seen some custom made pumps that really touched a soft spot. What do you want us to base our opinion on?? Right now I want a palmer pump in the worst way.

Asking what pump is the best is like asking what semi is the best. There is none. There's what works the best for you, and what you're looking for. I've had fun with Sterlings, Phantoms, Piranhas, Bushmasters, Trracers, and SO many more. If it works, and you're comfortable with it, it's the best pump.

I can only vouch for the one I've played with - a Sniper2 that I built up myself from a cocker and a pump kit. They are good choices IMO because there is so much cocker stuff, aftermarket and "knowledge" floating around out there. I would love to get my hands on some of Palmer's markers some day - they are so nice and hand-crafted looking, like a custom built chopper or something.

Definatly Chipley. I have had everything except a buzzard, which I have shot. For an "open" class pump the CCM stuff is just on another level. A very close second is the Houndstooth.
Both these guns have very smooth, fast autotriggers. So I am putting CCM on top as "Best".
Bang for the Buck goes to the Phantom, especially for 12 gram use. Phantoms have small air volumes to fill (like all Nelsons) Are are light to the extreme. So untill CCM goes stock-class the Phantom is king. Also, with a little bit of polishing the Phantom will be just as smooth as any carter I have shot. Carter has a good quality feel of coarse.
I respect Tyger's opinion, but unlike Semi's, and particularly electro's, the human-to-machine interface is so high that you can make a "which is best" determination. The electro's are so homogenized for speed that the differences are not really apparent, or important.
                          Brent.

In my experience phantoms and ccm are great pumps, the wgp snipers are also excellent. My current favorite is the pgp but only because i own one

I use Phantoms, I've liked them since they came out. I still have my original one from the year they came out. It's # 118.
I've played with Sterlings before. They are great guns. The Grey Ghosts are great ones too.
It would be hard to choose just one from any of them. Best bet is to try one of each and decide for yourself.
