My question to all of you is:

Why do you expect people to know what a mag is? Why should they know what Level 10 is? It sure as hell isn't like they're real common anymore, and TK didn't do much to promote them.

People are familiar with what is presented to them. Mags just don't get advertised. Instead of rolling your eyes, "wanting to shoot them with a .45" or proving that your 1991 automag is older than a shocker, try to realize that outside of AO, mags are almost nowhere to be found.
My AIM Intimidator is better than your Automag. Get over it.

At our home field there is very few mags, but I've been hanging up in Milwaukee Wi this winter and I see mags all the time. Depends on where you go.

Go to a tournament (NPPL, NXL, EXL, Millenium, etc) and take 10 pictures of D1 or Pro players using mags, and then upload them so we can see them. It might be hard. Promotion happens just as much in the hands of the pro players as it does in the hands of the companies. Just because your home field has a bunch of mag doesn't mean that mags are prevalent nationwide. People know what they are shown - it's true with everything, not just paintball*

(not an insult to you or mags)

*For example, our culture has come into a frenzy of France-bashing, and yet the majority of Americans could not tell you a single french current event. [Notice that I say MOST - for the 6 of you who could actually identify an issue, don't get in a tizzy] This applies not only to France, but to the entire world.

its fun to push peoples buttons and watch reaction. Want my opinion on what people using in pros has influence on what others buy - its way overrated in paintball. Ask players what marker anyone but Dynasty uses and you will likely get a blank look or wrong answer... I think

Now.. other forms of promotion... different story

my favorite "what's that gun" story...

I'm out with my 68 automag powerfeed and an old 18v shredder, held on with pipe clamps. This was about 6 months ago.

"Hey, that's a pretty small gun... what is it?"
              "it's an Automag..."

the kid runs to the ref and tells him that I said my gun is fully automatic, and since the ref was clueless I had to take my grip frame off to show it wasn't electronic.

              sigh....

I look at it this way. People that don't know anything period about mags is good, becuase I can mold them like putty. It's when they have heard BS about mags it becomes more difficult.
