I've owned three guns, and after having my classic mag for about 1 month I am wanting an e-mag...I might be a future gun whore, I think the reason that we want new thigns all the time is because if we didn't, we wouldn't be here today. If the human race was only interested in one thing, then we would never invent / innovate anything else. And probably never be the top of the food chain. So gun whoring is in our nature .For example,. humans were just fine killing things with spears, but then some ******* decided to make a bow / arrow. It seemed to work, and now that humans keep wanting more and more, we now have the ak-47... My opinion is that humans are the way they are, because they (we) are greedy ********

im not so much of a gun whore, as i am a mag whore.

just a list of markers, in chronological order over the 5 years ive been playing:

      piranha(sold to little brother)
RT classic(sold to someone here, forget who)
STO cocker with lots of ups(sold to friend)
Custom Built Eblade Cocker(put together myself, selling right now)
Logic RT with vert frame, and had the delta rail(parted out and sold everthing but valve)
Emag w/ ule body(bought 2 days before my rt came from logic)(parted out here)
2 nelspots(still not operational, hopefully i find time this summer to restore)
SFL Emag(got from Loadsm5, my primary marker right now)
Sydarm(got in trade for lowers of my Emag)
Karta/Logic Vertframes RT(used valve from my other RT)

once the cocker sells, it looks like im gonna be having a devilmag made.

i may not have owned other types of markers, but i didnt have to. ive held or fired many different markers and dont really like any. I do like vikings and Excals, but i dont really like the profile when shooting one. I also like dm4/dm5s but again the profile of them is what i dont like. ive held a few shockers, and everysingle one has felt cheap to me. same goes for most of the timmys ive shot. the only other marker that ive tried and liked was a friend's cyborg.

EDIT: forgot. RRFireblade hit it right on with the 2 types of gun whores. I may not be able to truely afford it sometimes(college) but i get markers that i want, not because theyre the hottest thing on the market

Ive owned quite a few markers in my time, and have also had the plesure of shooting just about everything minus an Ego. What gun did I like best? My Tribal. You want to talk about fast, that thing was it, i bought it brand new for $180, put a couple hundred in it and went to town. I would have put that in a head to head with ANY marker out there, and it was over 6 years old and i had less than $500 invested in it. I will regret selling that gun forever. It was stupidly fast, lightweight, reliable, and got me compliments everwhere i went to play. What more could you ask for?

But, like you said, there really isnt anythign special about any of these markers today. It all comes down to personal preference in the end, which is why i went back to shooting a slide framed mech cocker, i just like it.
Black/Red Tribal 2.0 BBT, Morlock board, 90* Angel Space frame, to many goodies to list. SOLD

Warp fed custom cocker, all aftermarket.

im more of a gun whore in my mind. i get too attached to the guns i get, so i cant really get rid of them. i always am skimming the classifieds in the b/s/t and picking out the guns im "going" to get but i never actually buy them. i start saving up every month for a new gun. but my mind usualy changes and i spend that money and start saving for another one.

i agree with you, i had a impulse, that, is definately comparable in performance to my trix, viking, or any other of the latest and greatest i have used, in buying/selling trading, i have found, that, once you surpass a level of marker, your just not gonna get vast performance differences, they are all great markers, and even if i do have something that i have always wanted, or is the "best of the best" after a few months, i want something new just for the hell of it.MY gun whoring has ceased for the most part after owning an AKA marker (what i have found to be my personal favorite) but, i still urge for new stuff all the time. Thats just the human nature of "the grass is always greener......" People pay in upwards of $1000 for a marker that performs identicially to the one they already own for example, whats the difference between a $800 alias and a $1700 ripper 2......hmmm.....milling, and thats it, not that the milling for one costs the manufacturer any more on one of the 2 markers, but, as long as there are gun whores who will pay top dollar for the latest model of the marker they already own, then manufacturers will continue to produce the same marker over and over at higher and higher prices.

Another type is the gun "hoarder."

I've bought, traded for, and been given 12-15 guns. I've only ever sold/traded two of them and that was so I could get yet another gun.

For some reason I like getting more obscure guns and working on them to make them their most. For example, my Tribal is years old but with the eyes it's getting, it'll compete with other new high end guns.

It's all about switching it up. I put down my E-Mag or Timmy to play with my A-5. Of course if I still played in tournaments I'd stick with my fastest guns.

Well, thats one reason you might not have fond memories of the viking. It was worth a lot more than you got, and I still wish I had been able to get it.

I've tried a lot of markers over the past couple of years, including DM4s, ND timmys, ebladed freeflows, etc etc. After doing all that, I came to the understanding that I enjoy AKA guns the most, and in particular the Excalibur. So switching around enabled me to figure out what I REALLY like. Then it was just a matter of finding the right one. I'm perfectly happy with my excal...for now.

Now, some have said that Vikings and such arent all that great, and you know what? They are right, in their own way. For them, the Viking just wasn't the right gun. For me, Vikings and Excaliburs are the PERFECT guns, and I much prefer them to the new timmys and DMs. Thats the best thing about having so many guns to choose from.

What I hate are blanket statements, like vikings suck, or timmys suck.

i completely understand what you are saying steel rat, i only got 1050 for that viking, but that isnt the reason why i did not have fond memories of it. First off, i didint like the pandora user interface, i found the dm line to be that much easier to interface with.

Also, i had been shoting a matrix for a while, and the transistion to a marker with the kick of the viking(albiet not very much) just sorta irked me.

it was a wellbuilt marker, and i could tell the quality that was in the build, it just didnt suit me. henve why im picking up a dm5 withing aweek or 2

DM5s are nice, Im sure you will love it. It sometimes takes going to another marker to make you appreciate what you really like.

BTW, I really dislike using the pandora interface, so I only use WAS boards. As for the kick, I don't think there is much out there that has LESS kick than a DM5

this always happens in the winter, since we cant play we spend our money on accessories and new guns (things we prolly dont need). Dont be like my friend he cant play because he bought a new gun. save up for paintballs and fees. Happy hunting

                                nice guns are nice guns.
that said, a large part of what i like about paintball is messing around with the "latest" tehnology. if you have the money and want to keep trying out something new, more power to you.

And in my experience, like I said, a guns a gun- especially for non-competition play. Last year, i benched my angel for a rental tippmann so i could play with some newbie friends in the "low-tech" games. After a few minutes I forgot what i was shooting and honestly had as much fun as usual.

I also have done my share of gun whoring. my most prolific year was- Minimag, RT Mag, E-Orracle, E-Mag, X-Mag, Angel Speed, Works Cocker. Now that I am playing again I aim to use no more than 2 guns this season. we'll see.
                                sigs are overrated.
