I'm stepping in here, since I'm the only one in this thread who actually LIVES near mag88888. Sam, go flex your muscles somewhere else, it's not appreciated here.

All of the necessary materials for a local/regional tournament are available close by. It's a matter of getting the funding, which I don't think would be a problem if approached from the right angle. Mag, come talk to me about this - I'll help you get a proposal together. Planning can take a long time, but you did no wrong by coming onto these forums and asking questions. Some people just have little else to do other than bring other people down.

Shartley, c'mon now. Look at the FIRST thing you wrote to him - "I think you were just given lip service." that's an interesting way to start a productive post...

We all know that there are many things that need to be taken care of before a proper proposition can be made - he was just expressing excitement at the possibility. Do YOU know anything about the town we live in? I think I just might know a bit more...since I live there. This isn't a flame, but look at the certainty with which you state that his dreams will be shattered and shot down. C'mon man, you can't honestly think that the best way to encourage someone is to break 'em down? He's a kid.

You're so quick to say that we only want to see what we want to see...that we're ignoring reality. What's the reality of the situation, Sam? Do you know? Not everything will match up to your knowledge or experience. I know that you're very knowledgeable about many things, but so am I. I am very good at getting things moving, planning, and executing ideas. I've started, and still captain, a paintball team which does fairly well in the upstate new york area. We're nothing huge, but I know what it means to take time to plan and develop.

Let's drop the hostility - I know that I'm willing to. You have a lot of good ideas, but the way that you presented them came off as very condescending. I didn't do any better by taking a stab at you...that's my bad, and I apologize for it, but there's no way that you can claim that your threads weren't condescending and/or negative.

shartman: wow nice short sarcastic post to back off a figth that you couldnt win, cause we were never fighting in the first place. i do thank you for all the info that you gave me though. i can use it as a check list but......i never actually said that i was gonna actually make it happen. i think you came on a little strong there. dont be so literal, take it easy. remember that most of AO are just kids, not grown ups in the REAL world. we know it takes alot of work.
