***Offical 2005 PSP Chicago Open Thread***

Anyone going? I'll be there every day playing div 3 xball with team never and pitting for NYX.

The event is across the way from the bolingbrook aquatic center. Address is 200 lindsey ln, bolingbrook, IL. I am going to hopefully drive out there and take some pics of the location. One of my friends told me they got the nets up already.

Yeah I was in bolingbrook at Boston Market applying for jobs. I saw a dude with a 02 xball shirt and asked him if he played. He was just hired to help put it up. I drove by at night and saw that they had the nets, or at least the posts up, and there was a big NPS truck sitting out there. I'd normally say I'd go take pictures, but yeah I AM lazy.

Should be fun! If anyone is coming down, bolingbrook is probably the best place to get food in this area. There are so many restaurants (sit down & fast food), as well as a movie theater, and a bunch of other stores all located about 2 minutes from the field. I bet the traffic will suck though with a bunch of people coming/going. I might drive down today and check out the parking situation so I don't get stuck driving around for 20 minutes trying to put my car somewhere.

Thanks dude, our first game is thru at 8am, doubt many people will show up for it, hell I hardly want to show up that early.

I drove by the even today and went to take pics and my camera was dead Most of the netting seems to be up. There is suppose to be 8 fields. I saw dye, proto, NPS, evil had all show trailers there. Can't really remember anyone else. Parking looks to be at a minimum. Get there early for good parking. It looked like all parking is going to be at the water park. The grass looks very nice besides being a little dry thanks to the chicago weather. Looks like it is going to be a great event. No rain in the forcast either.

...anyone else get that weird vibe at the chicago open? like... that vibe when something just isnt right? because having this huge event across the street from houses and a middle school... just doesn't feel like... chicago... or a paintball event

                          yeah

You can hardly call Bolingbrook Chicago... They should do it in Grant Park. Hell, Lincoln Park for all I care. They'd get a butt load more spectators and media coverage. Paintball as an industry is stagnating. But I digress.

We lost First game against zero, after the first half we were down 5-1. We changed up our lines and only put 2 of our 3 lines in and battled back to 6-5 them winning. We lost the 6-5 game in a close 1 on 1. We ended up losing 7-5. We learned much this game such as losing 3 on 1's and 2 on 1's really screw you over.

Next game was against University of Illinois. There team was made up of about half illinois players and half torq players. We knew it was going to be a tough game but we changed up our lines and knew we had to start off strong. After the first half it was 4-3 I believe. They scored 2 straight at the beginning of the 2nd half making it 6-3. Time was another comeback. Right after their last point they got a 4 minute major penalty for having a gun that was shooting too hot and too fast. So they were down a player for the majority of the game. We scored 2 points making the score 6-5 with about 2 minutes left. Haven't we been in this situation before? All hell broke lose for the start of this game. Off the break we sent one guy straight snake and one guy straight doritos. Me and another teammate stayed back center and laned. I fire 3 shots and my gun won't shoot. Halo won't feed. So I rip drive it for a little bit and eventually get shot. Our snake guy on the dive in cracks his halo in 2 so he's hand feeding the balls, not much help at all. Our back left made a stupid move to get shot out and it all fell apart. 2005 chicago open for team never=over. We hope to do much much better at world cup.

2 and out is an expensive lesson but if you are serious about your game, it's worth it.
