AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
16 oz = 1 pound. So it was either 2 pounds or 1 lb 14 ounces.
Bah, yeah you're right. Too early in the morning for that kind of thinking. After realizing that I'm almost positive the Shocker is 1lb 14oz without barrel or reg.
OK, here's a thread to finish the arguing over what guns weighs what.
All of the following are NIB guns. Weighed without the barrel but with the regulator. EXACTLY as they come out of the box.
If you have a gun that isn't listed below but have an ACCURATE SCALE (no guessing) please feel free to add your gun and measurement. Please weigh it without any ASA or macroline or rail, just as if it came out of the box like these...
Look dude,
I got those numbers from PBGear. Where do you think they got them from???
The NPS hype-machine. I guess NPS, like smart parts, considers some items (regs, bolts, electronics, whatever) to be optional when it comes to weights. I'd put my faith in Manike's numbers.
Yes, I know he works for them, but that doesn't mean he was the one who gave the numbers to PBgear.
I love the whole gun/weight argument anyways. I, for one, find balance to be much more important that 2-3 ounces in weight difference.

I love the fact that these "Mine is longer/larger than yours" arguments always ignore the honking big and heavy tanks that get strapped onto the back of the marker.
If what's being weighed isn't a complete setup, it's meaningless. Then if the difference is less than a pound, does it really meaningfully affect your game? And if it does, wouldn't a little time at the gym be money better spent than trying to shave a smidge of the weight of your marker?

Ugh, the weight lifting argument. Look, I'm 6'3" and 240 lbs, and I prefer a lighter gun if I can find one that I like and handles well. A lighter gun is generally easier to handle, and easier to keep supported for longer durations.
I agree the tank and other accessories make the weight race a little less meaningful, and definately makes the whole issue of balance more important.
Why is knowing what a component of your set up weighs any less important than knowing what the total set up weighs?
As long as you are making like for like comparisons it's always useful information.
Such that someone can accurately say, "If I changed this gun for that, or this barrel for that barrel my gun would weigh X less". Doesn't sound meaningless to me.
Most gun weights on the internet leave a LOT to be desired. That's why I use an accurate scale and always weigh them the same way. Gun and regulator, but no barrel or accessories so everyone can make a fair comparison.
All Pro players I talk to want a lighter gun so they can bring it to aim quicker and more accurately, or hold aim without feeling fatigued, or hold the aim better when they are fatigued.
All the scenario players I talk to want a lighter gun so they don't have to lug something heavy around all day.
As guns have similar performances, factors such as weight, size, and aesthetics are becoming increasingly important.
Either way, if you do or don't think weight is important, ultimately more accurate information can't be a bad thing.
When people complain about the weight of their guns I always ask them if they weighed it with compressed air or without. The looks I get are hilarious.

The air DOES make a difference.
I realise the difference might be important if considering changing one component with another. But, in considering the difference, the percentage of the total weight has to be considered, as does the balance. As long as that heavy tank is on the back, a lighter front end is NOT necessarily a good thing.
ANyways, it's not like we're talking about the difference between a VM68 and a ULE Mag for cripes sake.
We're talking OUNCES. It's like poser racers talking about fractions of a HP when their driving technique eaasily destroys 10 times what ever gain could be had by the extra ponies.
Is there a lighter electro out there that weighs less than 2 lbs? I just completed my hypermag and it weighs in at 2 lbs. This is with ule body, omega rail, Hyperframe and on off asa plus Freak barrel and X valve. It is unbelievably lite.
I also run a hypermag w/ dye ultralight, and I LOVE the weight. Reloader B with 4 batteries cuts the weight slightly from halo, but is still a large part of the weight... ah well, the speed is worth it. I was actually thinking about taking off my mounting bracket and foregrip for additional weight loss, but I dunno if I can get comfortable with holding the flame drop with my left hand.
Anyway even with the foregrip, its extremely light, one of the reasons I went with the hypermag setup.
my unmilled viking feels as light to me as my teammates ripper 2 when shouldered, because of balance. You can definately feel a difference when just holding it, like, picking it up or something, but, is balanced really nicely, so, in shooting position, cant really tell. And, i have used teammates 05 timmys/dm5's/proto's/shockers, all of which are signifigantly lighter, but, i cant say i have prefered using any of the formentioned markers over my viking/noticed any differences as far as weight is concerned while playing.
highly milled up micromag w/machined out hyperframe, homemade aluminum AIR valve, Palmers Stab inline.. no barrel/bottomline/hopper (Simon's specs). 1lb 12oz.
My and Rob's hAir Dallara ULE, Intelliframe, Palmers Rock, X valve (again to simons specs), 1lb 14oz.
