AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
If i recall corectly, the maker of those markers lives in germany. And modifying a marker over there is illegal, just as it is in the netherlands where i live. He can modify them, but they have to be non-functional to be legal.

I think what he is implying is that the maker of those markers started the thread and is still an active member here.... Meaning if you find the OP at Post #1 and find all of the threads started by him you will find other works of art that his hand hath created.
FANTASTIC WRITE UP AND RESEARCH!!!! This thread must live on!!!!
Mark, I am curious if you were able to shoot this 3rd Gen Space Mag when it was shipped to you? Or if Dan has since you sent it his way? If so, how does she perform?
Had this window open for 2 or 3 days, finally finished reading it. Kewl story guys. Neat for that dude for sure to know he had that big of an impact on the community.
Oh man, it's been a while....haven't checked in for quite some time and I see this. It certainly brings a tear to my eye.
That mag got taken directly to the U.S. by MarkM, and was shipped to my friends from there. I could not risk having it go to Germany, because I was certain it would be confiscated at customs. Then it got lost briefly due to an I.R.S. audit (not mine) and was retrieved again through the crafty assistance of some friends of mine.
I made it over to the U.S. once since then and got a good look at it, but never shot it. I didn't have the time to mess with it so I left it alone. After realizing that it would just be lying around in a closet for another ten years, I sold it to a fellow AO member, one who will take good care of it.
I'm not sure if he's played with it much, but it has a gratifying feeling to it that the whole Space Mag hunt paid off like it did, and that the story could be set straight. It was a really fun thing to do.

--- I just found a few more tidbits of information on another Spacemag and I figured I could chime in for a story....
I was the one who bought the Spacemag "RT" from Dan a few years ago. Last year I took it to Tunaball to play around with it and show it off to everyone that came. It won "2nd Place" but I think we changed it from 1st, 2nd, 3rd into categories. If I remember correctly I think I won the "Most Original" category (correct me if i'm wrong) Tom, Tuna, and Simon all judged the competition and it was pretty fierce with the amount of amazing automags that were being judged.
On the second day of Tunaball we had classic gun day. I decided to air it up and play a few games. After a couple powertube orings problems and talking with Nobody for half the day, I was able to play a few games with it. It was a blast. I do not suggest using this thing on a damn speedball field though.
I will be bringing this along with the rest of my goodies to Living Legends this year so more people can see it.

I also have an update on Spacemag #2. While researching old Planet Eclipse anodizing patterns I found an interesting for sale thread on the old www.paintballplanet.co.uk site.
It looks like the Spacemag was brought to Paintball Planet (Planet Eclipse) for a few modifications. After seeing the Spacemag #2 picture i'm sure they were the ones who milled off the bottom of the gripframe and added the dropfoward, barrel, and PE Sight Rail. I'm also assuming they were the folks who anodized it in the "Electric Skies" anodizing pattern.
I went ahead and sent Jack Wood a PM to see if he remembered anything...
I don't remember it, but Ledz does. He remembers us having it in the shop but we have no idea where it is now.
Maybe try a post p8ntballer-forums.com That may get you a hit, especially if you mention Allan Hastie. the name sounds very familiar but can't place him, sorry.
Good luck with your search.
Jack
I have a WTB post on p8ntballer to see if anyone has any leads for me. I am doubtful that the infamous, original Spacemag is still together, but I have high hopes that the second Spacemag is still together sitting in someones garage or closet.
Yeah, the threepeat post is odd but it can't be spam with all those details? It's a sad conclusion if true. Unless the remnants are actually found...
I find the timing funny since I just picked up this on FB:
It's the "SpaZeMag" RT Z-Grip foregrip designed by AOer Nickless Cage and made in Germany! The SpaZeMag also won the September 2014 MOTM competition. Now if only the 3 Spacemag-inspired frames from Doc could be uncovered and appreciated by a new generation of Maggers.
