I was thinking of trying tourney play...even though I'm not a big fan of speedball. My problem is I'm old...so can't play young guns...which means I'd get thrown in the "Novice" division which I've heard is pretty much just advanced class sandbaggers. Even if I could convince the two friends of mine to play in a 3-man tournament...which is a tough sell because they're lame and aren't really into paintball anymore...they'd really be apprehensive knowing that they are just going to get mowed down by the Viking sponsored JV team.

I'd like to take that next step though. Not because I want to work towards a pro career...but I would like to ratchet up the competitiveness a tad over Saturday afternoon newbie hunting at the local field.

Rather than trying to start your own team and put in 3 or 5 people with minimal experience, start hanging around, and practicing with the established tournament teams. It is likely to get a filler position and experience that way. Or ask one of them to take you and a friend to a 3 man somewhere, at least that way you have one experienced player.

              Well, you're pro now.

You should probably start complaining about refs and then 'mow some muppets' or something.

Glad you had fun, first time you always get rolled.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

me and my team are going to start doing tournies. only problem is that nobody keeps their setup, we are more or less deciding what we want as a gun, i turned everybody into a mag fan and they want some faster guns... so of course it takes time to get the money and in the meantime we practice with our first guns probably good for us because they arent fast at all.

wait... 5 man novice nepl? whats youre team name? we might have played you, im on team fusion which a few other AOers are on.

we did fairly well, but should have done better. then again, the weather was horrible and the paint sucked. there was only one game where my freestyle didnt break paint, with a .692 bore barrel too. its gone through a few cases of $25 paint without breaking a ball.

I agree. It's a real problem. I wish the promoters would be more strict (or even try at all) about this issue.

Class sandbagging has snowballed. Because it was allowed more and more teams felt they "had" to do it to compete... theres days I have watched where the 3rd ranked division actually ends up with better and more experienced teams than the 2nd.

its really hard to since pb doesnt have a system established for it. The bigger divisions have the card system, but smaller local tournies are screwed when it come to this. I remembering playing in a local 3 man and seeing an am team that broke into 3 smaller teams.......
                          we still beat them.......
Most of the guys that do sandbag are known people, that clearly have more experiance. Everyone knows them and knows what they are doing, which is good. They get no respect.
