So how many of these honest responsible adults that have bought IONs are shooting in semi?

sure, its a cheap "turny" level marker. But 99.9 % of players bought them to gain some sort of an "advantage"

Most rec field refs sit on a hay bail till there is a problem.. these guys get a store credit for the hours they spend on the field so they could care less if they are jepordising the fields insurance with rate of fire issues.

You call it cynical... i call it SAFETY.

Have you ever checked into the cost and regs of Field insurance, I have.
i have too, of course i dont have the quarter mill to drop on it though

im a 16 year old, but i didnt buy the ion for its "utra super cheating board." why did i buy it?

you obviously dont know the meaning of cynical btw.

i said you are cynical becuase you assume not only most, but "99.9 %" of the people who bought the gun bought it for a controversial feature.

in what position are you that you can say that so many people bought it for the rebound? why, instead of buying just a rebound or ramping board for $80 did they buy a $280 gun?

you make too many presumptuous statements with stereotypes. including "rec refs" where ive traveled to 4 states to play, and cant remember a time seeing them "sitting around on a hay bail" (figuratively, i know)

and i am serious when i say i feel sorry for you if that if your general outlook on humanity

Charity from a 16 year old, you will grow up to do great things im sure.

you were 3 years old when I spent 300 bucks on my first pump.. wow im old.
With your experiance you have grown with the "sport" . I guess your right that im cynical, i have seen its downfall.

I have played it all and played aginst people from around the world, its sad that the game has gone to what players can get away with.
Do you honastly believe that the people you play with fallow the same standards of play as you?

As a Scenario Ref I see it all, and the "advantage" of a high rate electro is obvious.
It is knowlonger a level playing field as far as equipment goes.

Please dont pick on my spelling, I havent been tested in 15 years.

16 yes, but that doesnt mean i dont deserve respect, any idiot could smell that condensention a mile away.

as far as "growing up with the sport" i did grow up with a monteel z-1 for 4 years if thats what your talking about

ok, but is it such a big difference that someone would pay 280 for being able to shoot 10 bps on vs. rebound over 5-6 which ANYONE could achieve on a true semi?

Adults give respect to those who earn it...

The reason any player would buy a ION over a Tippmann is the fact that ION's rip.
It is easy for a ION or any ramper to make up for a players shortcomings.

Another cynical remark. I'm sorry but that was a great example of generalizing. "Adults" that I know give respect to all people, and then don't give it to those who prove don't deserve it, but I guess I should expect a comment like that from a person who has already stated several similar comments.

Also to say that a 16 year old shouldn't be get respect is not only what I consider being a bigget, but also being very ignorant.

I am sorry if you don't like the way Paintball has gone, but that does not give you the right to clump bad apples in with everyone else...

Also...the reason why players choose Ions over tippmanns are numerous.

              -Tippmanns are less wieldy
-Tippmanns are slower (even with the Ion completly NPPL legal)
              -SP has great advertisment
              -Ions are sturdy guns
              -More experianced players suggest them

              And MANY more.

The rebound mode is not the only reason. And for those players who do purchase it because of that, how can you blame them? "Look...the pros do it, I guess that means it's right for me too."

There are also these leagues that actually allow rebound features. Have you heard of PSP possibly?

You can argue all you want on whether you think ramping is good or not (the topic has been beaten to death, but you can try and reccesitate it if you want) is not important.

And to the original poster. No where in the text of that site does it say it is the first electronic tactical marker. It says it is the first "electro-pnuematic" tactical marker. E-tacs are not electropnuematic...hence the reason logic is able to actually sell his frames (besides them supposing to be better in every way over the e-mag lowers).

Disagree or not. I am going to bed. Good night.

My opinion is that the woosballs guys started the full-auto cheating long before the tourney guys did. Anyone remember a little thing called the RT kit?

Field owners have been turning a blind eye to them for years - but maybe that's because many fienld owners also are store owners and for entry level markers the Tippmann is the favorite - with the most "upgrades" for the low end. These means more return sales since they push the Tippmannns so hard. The RT is a great example, it was a $100 dollar option on a $250 dollar marker - and I saw it's "full-auto" behavior used MANY times as a selling point. The one thing I've NEVER seen is a RT user getting yanked from ANY game for having it turned up too high. Since the advent of cheater boards I'll see high end guys get gigged for using "modes" - but still don't ever notice anything getting said to the tippmann crowd.

The tourney crowd has mutated PB (many argue for the worse) a lot - but the woodsball guys aren't with their own skeletons...

I guess I will just keep using this as my scenario marker:

SP's gun looks cool but it's big. It seems like there's a lot of extra, non functional plastic on this gun. It will appeal to some of the mil-sim hardcore players. I prefer a small package that is pure function, I can't see this beating out my Mags in that catagory.

This may be a good gun for all we know but even if not, their marketing will probably take it fairly far. It's unfortunate but the best product doesn't always win, sometimes it's the product that people are convinced, wrongly or rightly, is the best that does. We all just have to keep trying to convince the players that the Mag is the best, in our opinion and tell them why.

Yes, tournament guys use it, but I think the people Headhunter are referring to would be the rec-ball players who are using an entry-grade marker and want to upgrade. Or with the SP-8, the mil-sim/scenario player who wants a scenario looking marker. I don't think most mil-sim or scenario players own a DM4/5, Matrix, etc so they can just buy an $80 chip. Some could have sypders, but would they know about the chips? They're not advirtised anywere close to the amount that SP advirtises.

Personally I think it's damn ugly and the body looks too plastic. I'd much rather have a fully m4 kitted out tippy if I was going for a mil-sim style marker.
As a woods baller I like the mil-sim markers but I prefer a more handleable marker so I choose my Tac One anyday.

Oh yeah and to the guy who said that most rec day marshals just sit around not doing anything. You want to get yourself over to a UK field. The Majority of marshals over here take pride in doing a good job. When I worked on a site I worked damn hard and It wasn't a day till I'd been shot at the very least once.
